How home invasions are supposed to end

LAWRENCE COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) - One man is dead in an overnight home invasion in Lawrence County, and a second suspect escaped.


David Maxwell was awakened just before 4:30 Tuesday morning by his dog barking. When he got up investigate, he found a man in his kitchen and shot him. A second suspect escaped in a pick-up truck. Maxwell fired at him but is not sure whether he hit him.

Lawrence County Sheriff Joel Thames says the dead man has been identified as 30-year-old Matthew James Javor.


Maxwell lives in a mobile home on Henry Cox Road, which is just outside the Monticello city limit.

    Would have been a right ending if both the bad guys were at room temperature.

    Well, we can't always have EVERYTHING we want....:tooth:

    It didn't take long on the news site's Facebook page for people that knew the burglar to say, "He was a GREAT guy." I beg to differ.....

    Yeah, pretty much. Most comments are similar to what most people on here would say, but there's the occasional bleeding heart that wants to say it wasn't his fault. As it turns out, the homeowner was elderly and disabled, and the bad guy used 2 crowbars to pry his back door open. It could've ended really badly for the homeowner if he hadn't been armed.
    The comment I left was basically identical to your signature: "Play stupid games, win stupid prizes."
