This is very true. A factory sporter barrel...............who'd a thunk it!? I have dogged Remington in the past about being donor actions.............I must admit...............I have enjoyed eating my foot on this rifle.

    160grSpeerHot-Corat32842.jpg

Took the 160gr Speer Hot-Cor load to the range a bit ago to chronograph it and see the supposed potential with this bullet.

Well, with 94.0gr Retumbo it clocked 3,284 fps from a 26" barrel. That's 90 fps slower than the 162gr A-Max and 95.5gr Retumbo but with 1.5gr less powder, that's no worry.

Even though this is technically my under 400-500yrd load, these Speer bullets will get me to 900 yards while maintaining 1,800 fps.........supposedly.

    160grSpeerHot-Corat32844.jpg

I am loaded up and ready to go with:

    - 63 rounds 160gr Nosler Partition over 94.0gr Retumbo

    - 100 rounds 160gr Speer Hot-Cor over 94.0gr Retumbo

    - 100 rounds 162gr Hornady A-Max over 95.5gr Retumbo

    This should last me awhile.

The A-Max is sexiest. The Speer is all business. I like them.

That 7mm STW brass just got here the other day. I have yet to open the box. That Nosler stuff better be as good as they say at $2 a piece.

Nah. I've put probably50 +/- rounds through the barrel so far. I don't shoot it hot and I clean its after about 10 rounds. Should last me a bit. Hopefully 600-800 rounds. Especially since it shoots the way it does. I'm not eager to rebarrel it anymore.

That's the other reason I'm not eager to rebarrel mine. Finding 7mm STW brass is like hunting diamonds in an ice factory!!!!

On a side note, I've been messing with the 7mm and .300 Remington Ultra Mags so much here lately................when I started prepping brass for my .338-06 tonight...........the brass looked tiny!!!!! Ha!

That whole RUM concept seems silly when you start to compare. It seems so wrong.

I know where there is some .338 RUM. I hope it will be a loooong time before that batch of ammo is in my possession.

Actually, that rifle could be one of my next projects. Your Remington 700 has given me a bit of inspiration. This one is a lefty 700, but I can make an exception.

This is a Remington 700 LH long action sporter. A damn good ambi stock and a good 1-2 pound trigger... It will need some load work and I want to send the stock off for a paint job. Suggestions?

I am sure I can borrow it for about 6 months or so. It has a brake too. An Answer brake. They are pretty decent.

Oh and I own two Glocks! That does not mean I LIKE Glocks. Lets call it a girlfriend with loose morals and great bed talents. You don't have to be in love to keep her around...

Whatever! I know our conversations. Anyway, I fixed your quote for you.
