SAR Arms K2P

RugerFanRugerFan Posts: 2,871 Senior Member
I'm thinking about getting my oldest son a handgun for Christmas. Stopped in the local pawn & gun store to see if he had a Ruger. All he had were LCP's & I'm looking for more "full-sized". He showed me a SAR Arms K2p 9mm. It's made in Turkey and imported by EAA. Price was $379.

Does anyone have any experience with one of these? What are your thoughts?

What other brands do you suggest for a 9mm under $400? It's not for ccw or competition--just to have and shoot occaisionally.

It is probably as good as you are going to get new for that price. Of the EAA import CZ clones the Italian ones tend to be slightly better in quality, but you usually have a hard time seeing it. I'd bet the mags are made in Italy on that gun. Not a bad buy at the least, I'm actually thinking about buying one just to have a 9mm.

I just remembered the owner said he can get a EAA Witness(he didn't say what model) very similar to this SAR Arms for about the same price. Would the Witness be a better buy?

I've owned both the K2P and the B6P. Both functioned flawlessly even with cast handloads. Accuracy was a little less than I had hoped for at 25yds, but not terrible. ~10 shot groups in the 4" range, maybe 3 1/2". Decent triggers, great ergos. I gave $339 for both and my LGS still has them at that price.

If you saw them in person it would be immediately obvious that the polymer guns have pretty much the same origin. At least the frames are made in the same place.

Personally...... I would bump the budget up $70-$80 and get a M&P or XD

Staying under $400, I would go with a Sig 2022

Buy a Glock or buy something else. The Sigma I wouldn't touch with a 99 and a half foot pole!

SIGMA, Sorry Imitation Glock from MAss.

I know the Sigma doesn't have a good reputation, but what is wrong with them? I'm just curious.

Actually, there isn't much wrong with the newer Sigmas and new SDs besides the poor trigger pull. Spring kits are available. Having said that, I like the SAR CZ clones much better.

First and foremost, S&W has got the most horrible trigger on the market. Other than that, you would be much better off to just buy a police trade in Glock.

Thanks for everyone's input. I bought a new Witness 9mm today for $350. I liked the feel, fit and finish. It comes with a case but only one mag. Best deal I could find in my area without doing a whole lotta driving. Went to a decent sized gun store last week--Couldn't find anything full-sized for under $400. LC9's were $370. SR9's were $425. I don't think they had a Glock under $500.

BTW, does anyone know anything about a gun mfg called SCCY?

Made in Turkey, saw a 9mm at Buds guns web page for $ 275, it is marketed under the EAA name.

The only thing I do not like is problems like spare parts, service only one magazine, that is why Glock seems so much better, tons of easy to get parts and magazines and servicey.

Sure, I like cheap, however I prefer better logistics as far as parts and service.
Plus a well known well established brand.
