I think I'll call BS on their claim. The drone would have to be pretty close for a load of bird shot to hit it and if they were that close, what's the chance of them not only retrieving the drone but having the time look for and find a tiny piece of plastic.

Ya know, I was thinking about these.

A decent RC plane isnt real expensive, add 3 streamers of fishing line, one off each wing and the tail, and do a little flying around the drones.

Story sounds bogus to me for entirely different reasons. Assuming these pigeon hunters were retasked dove hunters, the ones I've hunted with from that state would shoot down the drone, then walk up to the disabled drone and obliterate it in a hail of bird shot. And then go back to shooting pigeons for eatin'. For me, anyway, the story doesn't pass the smell test.
