I'm talking of the United Nations where WRONG is 100% assured. We either have an ambassador who plays the diplo-dink global community feel-good BS, as Peace Keepers do anything but keep the peace while making awesome unarmed observers of genocide after genocide, while the US and Israel are condemned for tsunami's and drowning polar bears, or we can have an ambassador who'll be blunt and say what needs to be said, and none of it from the bible thumped or un-thumped.

Or, we could opt out of the UN completely, stop giving aid to every country with their hand out (yes, that includes Israel), we wouldn't need an ambassador, so no need for filibustering and recess appointments.

    Problem(s) solved.
When our governing officials dismiss due process as mere semantics, when they exercise powers they don’t have and ignore duties they actually bear, and when we let them get away with it, we have ceased to be our own rulers.

But what would the Bible thumpers do????

I'm not opposed to this idea, just when you have an appointment to the UN who has been described as a patriot because he represents his country, not the NWO, and the discussion descends into "Why is only one side patriotic and the other side idiots when they are either bible thumpers or Neo-Bolsheviks" it gets kind of huh? what?

That was kind of my point. Name calling and finger pointing amongst the two main parties is ridiculous and pointless, especially when considering that neither party is particularly ideologically 'pure' (whatever that means) and hasn't been for some time. Both parties hold a large share of the blame and frankly, anybody taking the 'my party is less worse than yours' point of view isn't helping anything.

The Dumbocrat plan is to pack every Federal bench they can between now and the 2014-2016 election years. They got two anti-gun leftists appointed to SCOTUS under Barry the First, and we are ONE SCOTUS vote away from a repudiation of Heller. They also intend to pack all the lower courts they can, and those appointments are for Life, ensuring a left/socialist view on those benches. Harry the Horrible did this to ensure a simply majority could accomplish this while they still have control of the Senate.

The Fed is out of control. Two key things must happen to return it to sanity.
    1. Return selection of Federal Congressional Senators to the state legislatures.
    2. Repeal the Federal Income Tax
The passage of these two Constitutional changes permanently changed the balance of power between the Fed and the states and ensured the Fed was predominant over the state. Guys, with those two changes the brakes came off the central government and we have been racing down that slippery slope ever since.

I agree. This is precisely why this new rule is such a bad idea. Imagine either side having that sort of ability. Whoever is in the minority at that point stands a better than fair chance of NEVER being able to do anything of any importance, no matter how long they stay in office. Worse still, you end up with a bench that owes it's ability to preside (not to mention a very nice wage, a great pension and the ability to collect both, along with numerous other bennies, AND the lack of need to ever go looking for gainful employment again) to folks who likely only have their own best interests in mind, not their constituent's and not their country's.

I don't disagree with #2, but how does #1 change anything that has happened to date?

Someone more informed than I may say this better but when state legislators chose their US senators they generally chose on the basis of their own concerns, that being states rights, but it also worked as a hedge against federal expansion. The senate was envisioned to be the uber deliberative body where things went at a snails pace. By it's own enacting, federal laws, inherently degrade the power of the states elected officials, and the senate with it's original rules in place could not pass laws with the same rapidity as the fickle and capricious house. It was a way to use the power the state reps wanted to keep for themselves, used against the reps on the federal level to maintain an equilibrium.
