My work week is over and off through Thanksgiving. I got home a little while ago aver a 13.5 hour day and whooped up a batch of Espresso Martinis. I learned to make these a few years ago after falling in love at a local Martini bar here in town.

I figured I would have 1-2 while I contemplate if I'm going to the ranch to hunt or do family time with the in-laws. Wife already gave her blessing to miss the festivities (God bless her). She feels sorry for me because I had to miss last weekend so I am thinking I'll pack up in the morning and head out for a couple of days, just me by myself in the woods. I really enjoy the quiet time alone once in a while.

I second that. My well pumps 15 GPM and is 45°F year round. So cold that it hurts your hands to wash with straight cold water.

Oh, tonight my drink is Diet Pepsi right out the can.

I drank coffee, sipped some 12 year old single malt scotch (neat, of course) and had some ice water and a cigar, on the side - all in front of a nice wood fire, my first of the year. As I wind down toward my retirement date, I find that almost anything is a cause for celebration. The 12 year old stuff was so good, I might buy a bottle of 18 year old stuff for Christmas, if there is any to be found.

12 yr is my favorite year of single malts.

The 18's I've had are almost too smooth. When I drink scotch, it has to taste like scotch. A couple of 18's I've had taste about like a good Canadian.

If I had to pick 1 single malt for the rest of my life: Glenlivet 12yr

Last night, I had a Sam Adams Old Fezziwig Ale followed by a couple of Keystone lights, then a bottle of water before bed.

That's the one. Everybody tells me Glenfiddich is the best, but I mostly can't tell the difference, and slightly favor the Glenlivet. Somebody gave me a Christmas sampler of the 15 and 18 yo, and both were very good, but nobody locally sells either.
