I know it's a little early(for everyone but Alec) , but since I'm at the in laws celebrating with them since I'm on shift tomorrow, thought I'd share with you guys too. Hope everyone has a great and safe Thanksgiving.

We (girlfriend & I) are going to a big potluck feed at a local icehouse. It's one of those outdoor/indoor bars with a row of smokers at the back of the property so there will be lots of folks putting the final touch on turkeys or hams, other folks bringing all the other goodies. We stopped by there last week and the signup sheet was 4 pages!
Some folks sneer at these bar or tavern-oriented potlucks but in many parts of society, it's replaced family get-togethers. Families these days are scattered all over, and traveling during the holidays is a chore. We've always preferred to visit each other when the weather's more amenable and traffic less crunchy. So we'll just do the phone call thing.
And instead of a family affair, we attend these fun potluck dinners at a large friendly tavern where we have plenty friends. We watch football, drink beer, laugh, eat huge dinners, and celebrate. Fun.
