M1 Carbine magazine markings?

ThatMattGuyThatMattGuy Posts: 666 Senior Member
This weekend I picked up 5 M1 Carbine mags from the gun show for $30.00. Two of them are USGI one of them being marked as Rockola. The second was still partially in wax paper that had dried and attatched itself to the metal. After a good soaking and cleaning it is very nice and unused. It has a nice parkerized finish and is marked MI inside a circle. Anyone know right off who made that one?

Seems like an International Silver -made magazine for the Winchester M-1 Carbine. Didn't know those came parkerized....all the GI Carbine mags I've seen were factory gloss-blued.

I know from my M-1 Carbine and the mags that came with it that the WWII mags don't lock the bolt to the rear after the last shot.
It's only true if it's on this forum where opinions are facts and facts are opinions

That is one thing about those carbines that drives me nuts.
Just look at the flowers Lizzie, just look at the flowers.

Hi ThatMattGuy, I've looked over several M1 Carbine 15rd magazine ID charts and the only thing I can see is that comes close to "MI" in a circle is actually an "IW" in a circle, for Winchester...I have several of these on hand. You just might be looking at yours upside down. That's the only answer I can come up with for you that even comes close to working...

Yup, the only way it works that I can see is look at the "MI" as "IW" and you're good to go...
