What if you carry your 1911 in a combination leather/kydex rig? Is that only half blasphemous?
Apparently, if you drink the Kool-Aid in the former posts.

I carry my plastic pistols in plastic holsters, and my 1911s in leather, so I guess I'm a pompous, kool-aid drinking kind of guy.

“A gun is a tool, no better or no worse than any other tool: an axe, a shovel or anything. A gun is as good or as bad as the man using it. Remember that.”
Do you want to submit your finely crafted $150 leather holster to driving rain, mud, grass, dirt and sand? Didn't think so.
Don't ask us a question and then presume the answer. Holsters are a disposable accessory, and a $150 finely crafted leather holster will likely take a hell of a lot more abuse than a Serpa. There are no moving parts to fail, no hard plastic parts to break, and the environmental factors you list don't matter; I have good leather field holsters that have seen it all and are still functionally perfect after over 20 years.
And if it's pompous to carry a $1800 custom .45 in a $150 (actually $185) leather holster, then go ahead and send me the T-shirt.

You've never seen me in my Mardi Gras King costume. :jester:

I originally got the Burger King costume, but I creeped myself out and sent it back.

And let you photoshop it into something silly and ridiculous? Never...

My 1911's getting lots of character as it is. Got the Armory Cote worn down in a few spots, some because of kydex, some due to the old ambi safety.
I carry my Glock in leather and my 1911 in kydex.

If you're dressed as a King (be it Mardi Gras, general royalty, or Elvis) you're supposed to be pompous.
