Got my camp 45 ready to sight in and new clothes

timctimc Posts: 6,684 Senior Member
Got the camp 45 ready to start it's ne life as a truck gun; I picked this rifle up real cheap when I was home last time. I installed the new parts I had waiting for me today which are the picatinny rail mount, burris fast fire, Choate folding stock and going to try some Chip McCormic 10 round mags. I'm looking forward to trying this little rifle out, maybe I can get her to the range tomorrow.

A .45acp round out of a 16" + barrel should be nice, not to mention using the same mags as the 1911 on the hip!

Almost the exact setup I have on mine, but I have a bigger red-dot on it.

Well then I guess that means I have good taste! :worthy:

I thought about putting a Bushnell holosite I had laying around on it but I figured I would try the Fastfire first.

Dang.................that looks like it would be the bee's knee's for my next rifle. All it lacks is the suppressor on the end of the barrel.

I have been toying with the idea for a while as I need a suppressed centrefire for some of the work I do for the local council.
Have been looking around for a bolt action in a subsonic cartridge but I could live with your camp rifle no problem.

    You suck!!!

Funny , those Marlin Camp Carbines didn't set sales records , but prices skyrocketed after they were discontinued. A friend has a few of the also discontinued Taylor 25rd 1911 drum magazines with his.

It is a Marlin model 45 chambered in .45acp and acepts 1911 mags. Most people refer to it as the camp 45.

No kidding I have seen them running from $750-$800. I gave $300 for this one and with all the add ons I have about $650 tied up in it so I think I done well.

I tried to find one of the 25 round mags but no luck, from what I have read about them it is probably best I didn't.

The dig against the ACP in a carbine is the unrealistic expectations folks have. UNLIKE the long, inefficient rounds like .357 and .44 mag, that gain so much with the longer pipe, the .45 ACP (and it's sister, the C45S), are already very efficient in a pistol-length barrel, so they gain relatively little velocity out of the longer barrel. BUT when ya consider the real world, where the .45ACP is considered a fairly potent handgun cartridge for anti-goblin work, a steadier, easier to hit with platform has much to offer. With the right ammo it ought to be able to make big, ragged holes in paper at 50 yards, which is all we can rightfully ask, and be a potent "homestead protecor" ahould the need ever arise. I enjoy the heck out of the C45S round in anything from 16 to 24" rifles.....

Hence the reason why the Thompson SMG was so favored throughout the years, esp in Banana Republics.
