Our local club, Bayou Rifles will be holding a one day class with introduction to NRA Highpower (including F-class) competition in the morning and then a wind reading clinic in the afternoon. Also, the next day, Sunday, May 4th, you can take part in the monthly 1000 yard match.

More info here: http://www.bayourifles.org

The link above has been updated and the class is on. I hope to see some of you there.

This will be the only bump. The class is filling up quickly and we are now thinking of putting a limit. We're getting people from all over Texas. It's going to be fun.

Good to hear of these types of clinics.

Too bad you are 540 miles / 8+ hours from the ole homestead.

No matter the skill level good information can always be obtained from these events.

    Thanks Bayou Rifles.

Man, I can't see 1000 yards, much less responsibly shoot that far, LOL! But seriously, I'm not planning on taking up Highpower, but I would love to sit in on that wind doping class. But even though I'm close enough to you to do it, I'll be out of the country for a few weeks at that time.

Yep, they be a lot of Real Estate here in Texas. I don't know where you are Magnut, but when you think it is about 900 miles from Orange to El Paso in almost a straight line it's not hard to imagine you being 540 miles from Houston.

But seriously, wind doping is a skill that everyone that shoots a rifle needs. From 100 yard shots,. to way out yonder in Ernieville, somedays wind will make you or break you.

I don't do any formal or long target shooting but I love to hunt and most of the time I try to limit my shots to 300 yards. But, Now and Then, you have that trophy step out of the trees at 400+ yards and if you know how to read the wind you have a much better chance of making the shot. I wish I was going to be around for this class because I think I would make the effort. Whenever your club has another one of these Pegasus, please inform us. If I'm not engaged in something else I will make it.

Sorry to hear you can't make it. I suspect this will become a yearly event, so check that website every few months.

I took a wind doping class in the 80s, it was probably the most useful class I ever took, not only for comp. shooting, but for hunting also.
