Does anyone have experience with Alien gear holsters ?

I am considering that or the Galco King tuk.

Anybody know both ???

I just got an order in from them last week for the EAA Witness 10mm and an extra shell for the CZ P-07 Duty. One issue so far on the CZ shell, but I've only carried it for 2-3 days.

They have a great guarantee policy as well as a shell exchange program if you sell the gun the shell fits.

What issue does yours have ? I like the full size Alien gear shell, the Galco shell is not a complete shell, the slide is exposed to wear.

Great price if nothing else. Look forward to a full range report.

The one for the CZ was molded with the decocker lever in place, and I have swapped mine for the standard C&L safety. So it just needs to meet Mr. Belt Grinder for about 10 seconds and make everything hunky-dory.

It's not the standard config for the gun, so no hit against Alien Gear.

Before you grind, call them ! they seem to be very accommodating.

If they have something that will fit better, they will make it good.

BTW, another one to check out is Old Faithful Holsters:

More of a DIY type solution, but the one I have for the CZ-75 is a good piece of gear

Price alone does not motivate Me, negatives do, I want the best holster system, not the cheapest one.

I have an old faithful and am not sure I like the system.

It is so wide that it is hard to get on, once on it works ok in cool weather.

But, I think everybody's holster of that type are probably about the same.

I have two Old Faithful's similar to that. The double clip version, for my 1911, works very well. The single clip version, for my XDs, is good/OK. I use them both a lot but, for the price of yours, I wouldn't screw with building my own. They are a little difficult to put on, but, once in place, they work very well. The longer you wear them, the softer, more comfortable they become.

I prefer a solid kydex holster, but if you want the "best" leather/kydex hybrid holster, you're going to have to go with a Comp-Tac Minotaur. I've had one for about 8 years, wore it every single day for about 5 years, I still wear it if I need a tuckable holster for some reason.

I've owned multiple hybrid holsters. An Aegis Armory Shield, Crossbreed Supertuck, 2 Chrisbreed Hybrids (built by our very own CPJ), an Old Faithful, and a Hidden Hat Holsters, as well as my Minotaur.

All of the others are good (enough), but if I had to point to a single holster and say "this one is the best build quality, this one is the most comfortable over multiple years of use, this one is the BEST", it's going to be the Comp-Tac every time.

I have 2 Crossbreed's one for a P94 and the other for a SR9c and I like them a lot, comfortable, well made.

I also have an Old Faithful for a SP101 3'' that I had to put together so it was a bunch cheaper and while the leather is quite a bit thicker it is also smaller above the clips so if you have any love handles like I do the clips dig into the skin and is not very comfortable.

What I do like about the O F holster is the fact that there is a rubber washer between the kydex and the leather at each screw that allows you to adjust the retention. The C B holster is riveted so if you want tighter retention you have to heat the plastic and remold it. However I have not had to do that with either of mine yet.

I've been carrying an M&P 45c in an Alien Gear for about a month now. First crossbreed style holster for me, so I can't give a comparison review, but I'd have no problem recommending them. They're well made. Laid it side by side with a buddy's crossbreed and from what I can tell, they've matched quality step by step. The only issue I ran into was a small lip on the bottom of the shell that would sometimes catch the slide and hold it back slightly. Less than a minute with my Dremel took care of it and the fit is great now. There's a lot of adjustability built into the holster for ride height, cant and retention. It also came with an assortment of spare hardware for changing retention or replacing a screw if you lose one. Turnaround time is about 4 weeks right now so, if you're in a hurry, that could be a problem, but other than that, I'd say go for it. I don't think you'll be disappointed. The price is great and in my opinion, you're not sacrificing anything.

I don't have any experience with the King Tuk, but this is what I can tell you about AG, for whatever its worth.

I came across the web XXXXXXXXXXXXX and like some of their products, but never heard of them. Do someone know them?

I second the Comp-Tac Minotaur. When I CC'd my full sized M&P9 that's what I carried it in, great holster. I carried my 1911 in a pay it forward Chrisbreed for a bit, but ended up going back to a Bianchi 3S (think leather version of the Minotaur). The Chrisbreed got paid forward again to an Army buddy who as far as I know CC's with it to this day. My M&P Shield is in a Bladetech only because I didn't have a Comp-Tac available at the time.

Anyway, I personally feel the solid kydex holsters are the best thing going for CC.
