RazorbackerRazorbacker Posts: 4,646 Senior Member
I could've got the .44 mag which dies are already on the way but no, my hoo hoo is so little I had to go with the .454

Now I also have to buy bullits, a scope and a holster

Nice Shootin' Iron there Razorback. I have one just like it, mine has a red-dot sight now. I did have a 2x Leupold on it, but didn't like it. Practice with .45 Colt...what's not to like. I've killed a bunch of critters with it. You'll love it.

That's it's purpose in life is killin' critters, I'm gonna bench it with irons but I want to scope it. The LGS had a Leupold 2x7 in stock which was sweet and just what I was thinking of but jeez it was more than the gun.

That pistol defines the phrase 'hand cannon'! :tooth: Looks like a nice one; with a low power pistol scope that will take deer and hogs with no problems at all. I like it!

Thanks fellers I'm looking forward to busting some caps. I'll be bringing it to the shoot. Plus it's always nice to have something new to blood for next season.

360gr cast going 1425fps. JB and I placed an order with them last year and the owner threw in a couple of extra boxes for the forum to check out at the SE Shoot. I got some light .357 mags, heavy 10mm, and 9mm +p+ if anyone wants to check those out too.

    Nice!!

I'll have my 454 there, and my handloads. I cast my own bullets, and load them heavy. IIRC, my 454 300gr. loads clock 1550 or so. :tooth:
A Hogue grip makes it much more fun.

Good Lord! anybody got any software to calculate the ME on that load? Should be a fun plinker:beer:
I bought some Magtech brand stuff that calls itself "hunting ammo. I've had good luck with it accuracy wise in ,44 Mag. This stuff is 260 grn JFP with a nice meplat. But for hunting I prefer a heavy hardcast bullet, pushed fast. I reckon your load would be good medicine for Griz.

    Nice, Congrats :guns::guns:

If shootin that thing doesn't satisfy/cure your need to shoot a magnum hand cannon, I'll bring my Mossberg 12 ga with a pistol grip installed and let you shoot some 3" magnum buckshot outta it one handed :tooth:

Actually with full power loads the recoil hurt my stink finger. I went with a Houge grip and that problem disappeared.

A Super Redhawk has been on the list for a while now. I realize it's not technically an SP but have you played with one much at LR?

    Mine was a FA.
I practiced out to 200 yards with mine and a loaner I had a couple of year ago.
I never tried to do anything at further distances.

Thanks, when I get mine scoped I plan on trying for longer. I'll let you know how it works out.
