1.5 Mile Song

ZeeZee Senior MemberPosts: 24,945 Senior Member
There are those that think I should run 1.5 miles in eleven minutes or less. Currently, my 1.5 mile song is this:

Sinnerman - by Nina Simone

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p4ovLrvq2do

It has a perfect beat for a comfortable pace and lasts 10:20. I can keep that pace comfortably without killing myself and have plenty of time left over.

I would like some other suggestions, though. It is hard finding a song that lasts between 10-11 minutes and has a decent enough beat to run to. So, I plead to you all for help.

Suggestions?

Even if it's the same song played twice. What I need is something that lasts the necessary amount of time. I can determine my distance by the beat and end of the song. Make sense? I can't be pushing buttons in the middle of the run.

You're just supposed to run as hard as you can for as long as you can. Or till you puke, whichever comes first.

    Simple really.

OTOH, you could do an endless loop of the Barney song and skip. That's probably what Mr. Spandex does.

I'd puke and then shoot myself if I had to listen to that song for 11 minutes. But yes, that's probably what he does.

I used to listen to techno/house music when on the treadmill. Repeatitive beats with no singing.

Running 1.5 miles is half a run, running is to be fun in it's-self.

I don't HAVE to run to music. It's just nice being able to do so.

I run 3 miles Mon/Wed/Fri and 1.5 miles Tues/Thur/Sat. The 1.5 is all I have to do in a certain time frame.

    I hate running!

Good idea. There are two versions:

    9:09
    13:40

I could go with the longer version and stage it for under 11:00 minutes.

Master of Puppets is like 8:37. You should be able to do a mile and a half in that time., chunkles.

There was a day and age when I was sub 8:00 for the mile and a half.

This is NOT that day and age.

When I was running, 1.5 miles was sort of a warm up, so I really needed an opera to go the whole 10.

I just don't run anymore, unless someone is chasing me. Then I just shoot them.

The original Skynrd studio cover of JJ Cale's "Call Me the Breeze" is an excellent running song, about 5:08.

Alright, I found another one with a consistent pace.

Bridle on a Bull - Chris Knight

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-GqsrL0Y5oY

It's only 4:08 so has to replay about 2 1/2 times. But, the beat is totally consistent with no fluctuation. I can match the beat with my pace and, though a little slower, is pretty spot on 10:45 without much effort. The pace is easy to hear and follow. Not a bad pace song or song in general if you like outlaw country.

Sultans of Swing by Dire Straits...........the live version off the album Alchemy......... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Pa9x9fZBtY

The clapping in the guitar solo when Mark Knofler is playing gives a good beat as does the rest of the song.
