I've seen that picture before and often wondered................has anyone every actually paid attention to how that scope is mounted on the rifle?

I guess you call that "adaptation".

At first glance, I thought there was a mirror on the scope cap!!

Are my eyes fooling with me? Are both rings forward of the turrets?

This rifle appears to have a rail running quite a ways forward of the receiver. I'm curious as to why the armorer put it together that way?

The rifle is missing a scope mount (base). Maybe it wasn't available to him (them). What he has done, is mounted the rings on the forend rail. In order to maintain some sort of correct eye relief, he had to mount both rings forward of the turrets.

Neither the the forend rail, nor the use of two rings forward of the turret alone are conducive to accuracy longevity in rugged environments.

Guess one one has to do what one has to do in the face of diminished options. Improvisation.
