    Lots of traffic comes in and out of the world's largest naval base every day.

    The guy supposedly disarmed the petty officer of the watch and used the gun to kill the responding master at arms.

    Bad all around. I know when I was in the Navy the level of firearms training given to the first line of defense (guy that was relieved of his weapon) was practically nonexistent.

    Back when I stood petty officer of the watch on the quarterdeck the pistol was unloaded and I had two 5 round mags in a mag pouch on the left side of the duty belt. But I also had a baton behind the pistol. They must have changed the rules since I served.
