such shots, unless the game is bedded down, are by lazy slobs who play into the hands of anti-hunters. the animal can easily take a step in 1/2 second, meaning a gut shot critter. Those bullets take 1/2 second just to cover 1/4 mile. So longer ranges are for **** and azzhats. Unless, as I said, the animal is bedded down. wind zephyrs happen, too. There is just no need to risk crippling game. REAL hunters get within 40 yds of trophies all the time. So why can't YOU get inside even 400 yds, hmm? Incompetence, laziness, dis-respect for the game.

So, what is your line of demarcation that defines "longer ranger" and garners the "azzhat" moniker? Are you suggesting that others follow your designation of "thus far and no further"?

    Please expound and discuss.

Or, is this just another drive by post.

In a pit blind, you didn't get within 40 yards of the animal. It got within 40 yards of you.

    Just sayin'.

I once snuck up on a feral hog and killed it at 10 feet, with my scoped, bolt action 30-06. Does that make me an uber hunter?

I didn't use a bench, a front rest, rear bags, bi-pod, or even a sling.
I stood on my own two hind feet (otherwise totally unsupported) and made a connection under 100 yards, and I never even pulled a trigger on this pd.
Even though I made a solid connection (And I didn't even use a pit blind:popcorn:), I'm afraid this may have been unethical, since there was not enough impact velocity to make one-rock, one-throw kill:rotflmao:

This has been my shortest pd connection to date with witnesses...Will you be my friend now???

A real hunter forgoes the sissy rifle and uses a knife.
    Overkill is underrated.

Oh, I've done that too.

Intentionally, not as a coup de grace.
