Fighting smoke smell in a house?

Long story short, the house I rented has a slight smell of smoke that I at first didn't notice, but the more time I spend here the more obvious it becomes. It is to the point that I am considering calling the property manager and fighting for the carpeting to be replaced, which I doubt will be successful.
Before I do that, what else can I do to battle the smell? I already tried baking soda in the carpet.

that worked some; but, it was in the air ducts and when ever the A/C or heat came, on the smell was there.
I have done dozens of fire restorations to know better. Cigarette smoke is the same thing.
As NN mentioned, you will have to go thru the WHOLE place and wash everything inside and out and thats not going to do it 100%. If there is any type of material/fabric that will have to be washed/replaced too.
carpets/padding and such is just part of it.
if you can, i would look for a different place.
good luck

I think the only way to make most of the smell go away is to remove the carpet and pad and double clean everything twice.
Will never be 100% but thats the best your gonna get.
