RAT knives

Anybody have one?
I ordered one from Amazon.....gotta stay off the puter late at night........looks like good kit from what the reviews were saying. All said the knife was great for the money but the sheath kinda sux, however I can deal with that.

Those that have one what do you think?

A friend has a Gerber LMF II that I kinda like but it has the serrated section on the blade which I don't like, as do most knives now days.

I don't own any, I can tell you there made by Ontario Knife Co. blades are either 1095 or ASU-8, and imported from Tiawan.

Ontario's web site says the RAT 5 is made in the USA.

My favorite pocket knives are CRKT, I was so disappointed to see Taiwan in fine print on the blade.

I have three...a RAT 1 (Folder), a RAT 3 and a RAT 7. The big knives come with a Courura Scabbard with a Kydex insert....however you can buy Kdyex scabbards for them. Great knives, hold and edge and are fairly easy to sharpen.

I'll have to wait and see if I like the scabbard or not and not trust what the reviews say. I'll post a pic or two when she gets here.

I want a RAT knife but keep putting it off since my LMF II meets my survival knife needs (the one place where serrations are useful IMO) and I usually gut game with my Griptillian.

Serrations are great for cutting through seat belts and most cops love them. And pilots, I'm sure. I don't own any serrated knives except a bread knife.

I lose pocket knives with disturbing regularity. I now carry a NRA membership knife, which is a great knife, but made in China. Like most cheap knives, it's unlosable. I've also got a Fallkniven pocket knife that is an excellent higher-end knife, but I lost its predecessor and I'm shy of carrying it.

Got the Rat-5 in the mail yesterday. It seems to be a tough well made knife with just the right size blade. But the sheath doesn't look like it was made for it. It looks like a universal fit so I ordered some Desert Tan kydex and am going to try my hand at molding one.
