A person whose mind is not free though he may not be in chains, is a slave, not a free man.
One whose mind is not free, though he may not be in prison, is a prisoner and not a free man.
One whose mind is not free though alive, is no better than dead.
Freedom of mind is the proof of one's existence.”[/h]

Meh. It's a shortsighted individual who can only think of one way to spell a word....

So spell it how you want that makes sense to you; add some spice to the language. Plodding in the same tracks leads to a rutting of the road and broken wheels.

I'd think the same thing about my fellow English lit majors, then reverse it when I was in class for my chemistry major. The former group could spell anything but knew nothing. The reverse was true for the latter.
Hell, we can't even agree between ourselves, the Brits and the Yanks, how to spell a simple word like "favorite" -- what was it Shaw said, "Britain and the United States, two great nations separated by a common language."?
"Sorry, can't hear ya over the opera playing on my grammarphone..."
Grammarphone? Great word, sharp!
Btw, girlfriend & I were actually listening to some Creedence and Seeger.
Is that like 'Gilbert & Sullivan'..............
The American spelling of words like "favorite/favourite", "jail/gaol," "plow/plough" was deliberate. Right after the Revolution, there were hard feelings against the British, and there was a push to simplify spellings and be more American. Among those was Noah Webster, who I believe wrote the first American English dictionary. At least that's what I heard.
Yeah. Like, mmm, both are music.
Is there anybody in there?
Just nod if you can hear me
Is there anyone at home?
Come on, now
I hear you're feeling down
Well I can ease the pain
Get you on your feet again
Relax
I'll need some information first
Just the basic facts
Can you show me where it hurts?
There is no pain you are receding
A distant ship's smoke on the horizon
You are only coming through in waves
Your lips move but I can't hear what you're saying
When I was a child I had a fever
My hands felt just like two balloons
Now I've got that feeling once again
I can't explain you would not understand
This is not how I am
I have become comfortably numb
I have become comfortably numb
Okay
Just a little pinprick
There'll be no more
But you may feel a little sick
Now can you stand up?
I do believe it's working good
That'll keep you going through the show
Come on it's time to go
There is no pain you are receding
A distant ship's smoke on the horizon
You are only coming through in waves
Your lips move but I can't hear what you're saying
When I was a child I caught a fleeting glimpse
Out of the corner of my eye
I turned to look but it was gone
I cannot put my finger on it now
The child is grown the dream is gone
I have become comfortably numb

Good writing! You should make this into a song. Who knows if it would be a hit?
(yeah, I know -- just kidding -- but you did a helluva good job typing all the lyrics)

Keen but it ain't true.
Hush little baby, don't say a word
and never mind that noise you heard.
It's just the beast under your bed.
In your closet, in your head.
