we need to have enough firepower facing south to hamburger these scumbags- - - - -maybe a few Cobra gunships with 20MM Gatling guns would be a good start!

That's a fact. Some of the toughest lawmen in recent history were Border Patrol agents, but not any more. Back when they could whack and stack the bandits who came across the southern border, things were a lot safer down there. Now the good guys can't even return fire to keep from getting killed!

Hey, last time I suggested shooting illegal aliens I got in big trouble. You better specify that those Cobra gunships must only "hamburger" illegals 18 and over.

There were two of them one I wouldn't trust with a potato gun.

Son that's somebody with nothing to do with his time but keep me in trouble with mom.
Yeah and we will hope our future Governor isn't named Wendy D.

Now, it is time to put up or shut up. He commands the National Guard, right up to the moment that the President formally 'nationalizes' it, and it is time to start using them as a state militia. This will force the Feds to commit, one way or the other - they can nationalize the National Guard against the governor, as Eisenhower did in 1959, when the Arkansas governor attempted to use them to keep the schools segregated, or they can accept the national outrage for their overt failure to enforce immigration laws that were made to protect our sovereign borders.
It's time for the border states to bring all this to a head, and this is the incident that should trigger that. I'm ready to see what Rick Perry is really made of. He has been a good politician for several years, by riding a wave of prosperity that he inherited and was smart enough to not screw it up- it's now time to see if he can be an effective governor.
I like Perry and he may surprise us all and do this, but I'm afraid too many politicians are trying to wait Obama out of office. Only problem is Perry's more lame duck than Obama. We'll see what he's really made of.

No one will do anything this time either. Rich people want to keep the steady supply of basically slave labor tending their yards, gardens, and children.

He is and it's going to cost the good citizens of Texas 12 mil a month. Thanks Texas. I wonder if they will give them bullets?

Exactly. Too many votes slipping through to dare stop it.

As much as Texans are pissed off about taxes, if not one penny went to the fed, and it all went to support beefing up border security, I believe this would fly.
Of course the border needs beefing up because the fed refuses to do anything. So in effect, anything spent on border security would be to replace what the fed didn't fund.

You would only notice a half dollar increase when you filled up. You could really tack on a whole nickel and it wouldn't have a huge impact on the consumer/citizen. Considering all the foklks that get gas in the course of a week, you would have this paid for very quickly.
you put a Bradly..or even and old 113 on a hill and you now own everything with the sight of that vehicle. Even if they only have up-armored Humvees now. Supporting Fires can work just as well.
I'm not for shooting unarmed folks swimming to a better life. But, you put a stich in the water before they enter and bet they will rethink their options.
The biggest thing is if Perry has the stones to give a good set of ROE. The National Guard units that did multple trips to the desert made over like fat rats in terms of training they received and access to funds that allowed them to fatten their equipment lists. Believe it or not, some those govenors were doing their level best to get their units into the fight so they could take adavantage of the money.
It will never happen but this is the best idea I've ever heard for fixing this problem. Seriously.
Not to split hairs but it was 1957. There's a whole museum about it at Little Rock's Central High School. It was a DemocRat governor "standing in the schoolhouse door" btw. My older brother graduated from there. The governor's name was Faubus and he was up for reelection. Schools elsewhere around the state integrated with no drama. Oh, and Ike sent in the regular Army. Also, I don't know if it's true or not but the rumor is our section of I40 was the last finished to punish us for '57.
Posse Comitatus NG can't enforce laws....can't be armed for domestic law enforcement purposes....can't fire back....no Viagra either.
I live in Nebraska, and they are transporting the (can't use the Rogers term for it here because of moderators) all the way up here. I don't want the little (again deleted) around me.
As a nation, we need to wake up.

OK, I was going from memory, and I don't remember much from 1957, but I do remember seeing old film of the National Guard pulling out when the 101 Airborne rolled in.
Oh sure and I wasn't picking on you. We've got enough nitpickers here without adding my name to the list.
