Oh for pete sakes Alec, you know darn well that wasn't directed at you. You made a comment about guides praying over their kill and then shoot fowl on the water and I simply mentioned that it was hypocritical. Good lord.

You've been throwing firebombs at everybody for over a year now. What is your general/specific problem? You never talk about hunting/fishing/shooting, but instead post up shovels full of hate and discontent, and actively try to start flame wars. This antagonistic behavior is beginning to wear thin. And your specific callout of members is wearing thinner. You used to post pictures of the places the railroad tracks took you on your travels. Those were interesting to me and to others. What happened?

I can't see anyone getting angry over someone praying. I don't myself, and don't usually say grace, but I respect those who do by keeping my mouth shut. It's kinda like standing for the National Anthem. Maybe Madalyn Murray O'hair is still alive and on the west coast?

lol. Not angry at all. Matter of fact, I find it rather comical. Just pointing out the hypocritical aspect of praying over a kill when these same hunters blast or catch 'lesser' game (other than the big yearly deer hunt) and think nothing of it. When that bloody albacore tuna is thrashing on deck, praying is the last thing on my my mind. I'm thinking more of fish taco's and sushi. We're always thankful when things go our way but never thankful when they don't, even when those failures often lead to success.
It's kinda like the sports celebrity who looks up at the sky thanking god for that TD or homerun as if god had something to do with it. You'll never see that same sports figure thanking god for losing a game or event even though they might excell later on learning from their mistake.

Hell I give prayers of thanksgiving for this stupid brain tumor. Why? Because who am I to question His plan? And I know he's got one for me.

I've shot a total of ONE duck in my life, (flying) and I'm no authority. However, I belong to a shotgun board where a guy from Russia posted a video of shooting a duck or a goose (can't remember) as it landed in a field. He was criticized but said in Russia, the skill was luring them to land rather than shooting on the wing. Just a different view I guess. If I was hunting for the table, I would not pay much attention to where they were, but I'm not a duck fancier.
I tried to eat the duck I shot but was totally unprepared for cleaning it. It was awful. I understand the ducks that fly in from the grain states are great, but to me, they're fat and awful tasting.
I remember when Canada geese were a novelty here. I remember the first flock I saw in the Spring. Now they stay here all year and eat unspeakable things. I wouldn't eat one at gunpoint.
Well, I have to admit, even though I don't get the warm and fuzzy shooting them sitting on the water, but I think most duck and goose hunters will shoot them when they have their wings set gliding in to land.You usually still need to know how to lead them and keep tracking, so it's not the same as ambushing them.

Man, I ain't all that I stumble and fail in my faith every day. I'm in my 13th year of fighting this thing so consider the testament I can give. Also consider that the very sunrise is predictable as are all the movements of all the stars and bodies in the heavens. and have been since the human ancients did so with their crude instruments. And the seasons are predictable and have been since man started paying attention.There are many other predictable things in this life and in this world so don't anyone try to tell me it's all just random chance.
For in addition to all that I have seen the hand of God work on the face of this Earth.
I could go on ad nauseum about things that happened to me that really sucked at the time but they all had to happen to put me in the happy place I'm in today.

Zorba made a good point about forums that are "moderated to the point of sterility". We certainly don't want that to happen here, and in fact we greatly prefer that the forum be self-policing" as much as possible.
With that in mind, it would take a highly unobservant poster to not realize when their posts repeatedly offend a significant number of reasonable fellow forum members. Since it's highly unlikely that any poster has ever existed who is that unobservant, one can only conclude that such continued behavior is intentional. And this will get one escorted to the door.
The most telling warnings usually happen long before a moderator gets involved.

Razorbacker. I believe I know how you feel. My wife and I have almost lost our daughter twice now, and she is only 15 months old now. We are called to give thanks in all things. We did not know the plan God had for us, or our daughter, but we gave him praise anyway. Her pain, and ours, has not been in vain. It has been incredible how God has used her situation to reach out to literally thousands. Her story has reached people all over the world. Who am I to not trust in the Lord. Thank you for sharing you thoughts, and I am in awe as well.
Alec, If those guides are Native American's they don't need a license to hunt or to observe seasons. They are exempt because of their heritage. Razorback, you are an inspiration to me. Just over a year ago, December 29, 2012, I woke up paralyzed from the neck down, from a bad surgery experience. Since that time, I have been able to get out of bed and walk some, with a walker. I have never doubted the existence of God, and I know that, like you, he is not done with me. I also know that I have a guardian angel. I am a retired LEO, with 36 years behind the badge. I have been shot at six times, and not hit, struck by lightning, and not injured, and have been in a vehicle collision where I was pinned in the car. Thanks be to God! Robin
