This. As soon as Hulu and Netflix are up to snuff I'm dumping cable for good. HBO already announced zoo you'll be able to buy standalone, rest of premium channels will follow soon. Cable box will go bye-bye and the TV will come with a SIM and 4G-5G connectivity that you will simply add to your wireless data plan.

Amen. I see this in two years.

Funny enough it will probably take longer to adopt in the USA since AT&T and Verizon have HUGE investments in landlines but it is inevitable. Europe is almost there and LATAM is chomping at the bit in just about every country.

Classic struggle between contract holders that have income at risk and suppliers that want a consumer direct relationship.

AMC and Directv are fighting it out right now over fees, and AMC is threatening viewers with the loss of The Walking Dead.

Now their is another stake holder, bandwidth providers. Massive downloads will take up massive bandwidth. I believe in the future we might see a new measure of bandwidth, like "kilobyte hours "

I wuz gonna mention to you there is a repair shop and website I found that will help/sell you kits with the right parts (usually Electrolytic Capacitors or entire circuit boards-cards) if you email them the brand/model # and symptoms.

We finally sold the youngest kids Jeep last weekend, so the wife and I went to Best Buy so she could get a new MacBook Air.... While we were there we walked around a bit looking at the TV's. They had a 78" Samsung curved 4K on the wall......... :yikes::yikes::love::love: and only a mere $8000!!

I need to win the lottery!!

While that is nice, that is quite a few good seats at a Wild game, I try to discourage any more screen time in my house than already goes on.....

Thanks, that is interesting, but I have more money than time at the moment, I would be all over messing with stuff if time allowed, especially shooting, hunting, and reloading:bang:

Under 100 bucks to get repaired is probably better than trying yourself unless you are interested in DIY electronics. Worth keeping as a 2nd TV at that repair cost.
