My First AR 2, too, to - Also

I bought a new Ruger AR556. It has not been out long, their first direct impingement version. All the others they have built to date have been piston driven, the SR line. Anyhow, I really liked it over the other choices in the price range, $599.00, Bushmasters, S&W, ATI and Windam all cheaper but the Ruger felt better. Heck, they had Bushmasters (not polymer) for 523.00 plus a 50.00 rebate.

1:8 twist, 16 in barrel, mid lenght gas, F4 front sight, pop up rear. Can't post pics right now but it's this one

Hope to get some pics tonight, range report this weekend.

First place I tried to buy mine a counter guy said those were coming but he didn't have any details. Looks like there'll be even more ARs at the shoot this time.

    Oh yeah, you suck!

Well after out .22 match this am, several of us went to the long distance range to shoot bigger stuff. Shortest target is 100 yd swinging 6 in plate. First shot miss, next 4 hits. I move up to 125, 2 10 in plates an one 6 in, nailed em all. I'm like holy crap this thing rocks. 150 yds I miss first one, then hit next 3 of 4. 200 yds I hit 2 of 4. I love this thing. Way more accurate than me out of the box. I was shooting cheap 55 gr Am. Eagle ammo. Just wish I had brought more.

You're going to go through a lot of ammo with that thing. A lot.

Well done. These guys are correct. I have found buying anything less than 250 rounds at a time to not be of much use. I dont generally shoot that much in a sitting but it is easier.
