I can respect that. Ask and ye shall receive. Beartracker playing bodyguard for you, of his own accord or upon request, is cheesy.
Got news for ya. Beartracker wasn't alone in that thought. He was just the first one to post it.
Posting something like you did WITHOUT an explanation just causes you to lose credibility in the eyes of those who read it. Do yourself a favor and EXPLAIN how/why you come to certain conclusions, or your post has no usefulness to the rest of us.

Just for the record BP, I asked no one for help. I really can stand alone with you. But maybe these two guys coming forth should be a big hint to you about how you treet people sometimes. I read all your reasons, but if you think that gives you a license to kill, you're mistaken. Some people just can't handle certain behavior whether that be directed at themselves or others. I could really like you because you do have a whole lot more good than bad. But giving excuses for thinking you have the right to talk to us like you feel at the time won't fly in the long run.

I make no promises for the future. If I like something someone says, I'll comment as such. Just as I've done with you when I agreed or liked your post. If I don't like it, well, you know how I will reply. Doesn't mean I'm out to get that person. I just don't fire blanks. Everyone is welcome to fire back. Life is not for the faint of heart. You'll be lucky to get out alive. I will continue to be the way I am. Praising and uplifting when needed. Beheading when warranted. Again, it's the Internet. Don't take it personal. ...........................By the way, I did try to send you an IM. But your mailbox is full. Just for info.

Then let it be known. There will be clashes. There will be toe stomping. There will be brawls. We as a whole will disagree at times. We will say what we mean and mean what we say. As men should. We will punch, kick, and fight like brothers. But we are still brothers. .......................We have our Village Idiots (I'm probably one of them.) We will laugh, poke, prod, and throw rotten fruit at them. But ****, they are OUR village idiots!!!!!!! Anybody not part of our family tries to come in here and jack with OUR idiots................God help them.
Man, I step out of the room for a few days, and you kids start swinging.
I like Uncle Bell, He understood what was required to bring down his quarry. CONFENDENCE & SHOT PLACEMENT.

Wolf, the bottom line for Bell in his time and the only thing we should judge him on is as you say he did understand what was reguired to bring down a pacyderm, and he did it rather well. I don't believe in judging a man a hundred years later for what he did during his time. Things are looked on differently nowdays and he had probably never thought that what he was doing might be wrong. As it turned out, the elephant didn't go extinct like the American Bison almost did. I think the settlers in Africa wanted them thinned and the ivory was a popular commodity.
And after all, this issue isn't like judging someone like Adolf Hitler for crimes against humanity.

Well said...judging historical events by modern standards is a fools errand....
The great elephant herds, like the bisons, demise was inevitable...The greatest danger they faced, was not guys like Bell....it was the market for their tusks...

Good tread Snake. I was wondering why some people looked down their noses at Uncle Bell and hoped they would bring something new to table that I haven't read or over looked.
By the way, he isn't of any relation of mine, just has the same last name.

You just never know who you might be kin to on the other side of the pond. My sister is a geneologist, and she found out we were a decendant of Daniel Boone. Boone's mother was a Morgan from Wales and some of our family on my mother's father's mother's family are decendants of his mother. Well after a couple of years of tracing it out she found this out confirming that we are Boone's decendants. However, she makes a big deal out of it always telling everyone at our family reunions and such. I told her I said "Yeah, us and about a million other families." Family trees are more like Pyramids. At the top it's a sharp point but as it comes down it widens out until at the bottom it is very wide. This width represents a lot of people at the bottom.

Mike, thanks for posting the links to Bell. I had never heard of him before. He sounds like one tough guy. I guess others were interested enough to start a flame war.:yikes::silly:
