Hard to argue with instantly dead!

So. . .what commercially available bore diameters have you NOT killed a deer with at this point?
    WWJMBD?

That thing hit bone right from the beginning, kept trucking through, and then bust through some ribs on the way out. I think it would work just fine on elk/moose/black bear.

    This is true.

Did you measure the size of the exit hole in the hide?

Just wondering if it would give some indication of how much the bullet expanded....

I didn't measure it. Guess I should have. But, it was probably between nickel and quarter size. Not that that makes much sense to you. Being a Kiwi.

    Good deal!!
    Awesome about the return invite.

I'm surely itching for a 358. Yep. Once I get a few other projects wrapped up.....
What do you think about building a .358 on a long action? I know where there's a cheap r700. 30-06

You NEED a .358 cal!!! I have 3 in a rifle cartridge and 2 in a handgun. Love that caliber.

It it seems a waste to me to build a .358 Winchester on a 700 long action. But, you could always go with the Whelen!!!

Other than the metric European calibers..........I think I might have used all the standard centerfire calibers in one flavor or another. I'd have to really think about it.

Nice kill and a great report as always. I envy you so, seasons are pretty much over for what I enjoy, this downtime until fishing season kills me every year! Heck the outdoor range has even been closed because its been so damned cold!

It's aint rocket science. Size the case, put In a primer, put in the amount and type of powder that quick load tells you, and see what happens. You are making this WAY to difficult. Besides, we KNOW what a hard cast bullet is going to do. Through and through, little damage. Duh.
But the 80 grain AMax....is unknown.
    It's science.

    Maybe next year.

Maybe I'll kick you in the balls. I get not this year. But "maybe " next year? Yeah. No. Not acceptable.

    Ok. Next year.

I've had an intrigue for .358Win for a while. Looks like a fun caliber that does the job!

It's a very intriguing cartridge. Obscure, but effective. Would be very handy in a bolt gun.

Yeah. Huh. Who would have thought that?

And mine is even shorter and handier in a single shot.

    Meh.

But since I know what that rifle is destined to become, you are forgiven.

Exactly! Good things come to those who wait.

    Thanks.

My my chest freezer and upright are full. I gave this deer and the one before to a buddy from work who has been out for a couple months with a back injury. He was unable to hunt this season due to the injury and appreciated the meat.

    Applause!
