Wife and I were running errands this morning and popped into our LGS. We got to chatting with the owner, and Wife decided it might be interesting to look at a new Colt LW Commander XSE.

SHE LIKES IT!!

She's never ever ever shown an interest in 1911s, no matter how often I've offered to let her shoot mine. Granted, this one was in 9mm, but it's progress!

She's actually talking about selling a few pieces of horse tack to go back and buy it! :silly:

LW Commander in 9mm for a Missus gun? The only thing that might complicate the No-Brainerness of that purchase would be the possibility of loading 185-200 grain .45's in an effort to both keep the recoil down and simplify your loading press and primer supply. That's a fire you wanna pour gas on.

Well, I don't reload, so that's not an issue. And it *would* bring a 9mm 1911 into the house.

Well, get going reloading...............not reloading and wanting to shoot a bunch is to me like owning a Corvette and not filling your own gas tank.........................

I think part of the equation is a set of real purty spalted maple grips the shop has from a local woodsmith, Mike Galayda, but he only makes grips for the 1911, the P35, and Ruger single actions. So in true female form, the grips have to go on something, so...

Kind of like a new outfit needs new shoes, new purse, new iPhone case, etc.

    It's not that I don't like it, I just don't understand it.

The grip is longer than the slide......shouldn't it be the other way 'round? :uhm:

I prefer it that way. I hate officer frames.

T'isn't the length of the grip that's wonky, but the shortness of the slide.

Or worse, owning a 2015 Vette with a straight 6 and a Power Glide in it. That's about as sexy as a Ball Point Pen, :rotflmao::rotflmao::rotflmao:

Of course, I'm a great one to talk. I don't reload for my 1911 either, even though it begs it of me.

I know, you'd think someone with wee little hands like he has would prefer a shorter grip...
