Don't know if we've done this: favorite barbecue chain?

There's a few 'cue joints I like to go to, but I can't really think of a chain I like. I'll eat at Sonny's, but honestly I'd rather just use my own sauce. And cook it myself. It's tolerable, but not a place I desire to go to....
Anyone got a chain they love to frequent for barbecue?

Only chain that's worth a damn.

Famous Daves. All I've ever had there is burgers and BBQ nachos. I like their Devil's Spit BBQ sauce. I've started buying it at Walmart to use at home.

The only Rudy's in Colorado is in Colorado Springs, which is about 35 miles from my house. We try to eat there when we make a trip to the Springs. It's good grub.

Forgot to add, up in Lockhart, next town toward Austin from Luling is Black's BBQ. A little expensive but probably some of the best BBQ in this state. And their Pecan Cobbler is fantastic.

Problem for me with most places is that they use a tomato-based sauce. I was raised on a cider vinegar/yellow mustard sauce. I prefer that type over all other barbecue sauces. Northeastern North Carolina vinegar and pepper sauce is good, too.
The real test of a BBQ restaurant is sliced brisket - if it's tough, I won't go back, or if I do, it will just be for a chopped beef sandwich. Most places can do pork ribs OK, because they are very simple, once you get it right once, but they want premium prices for it. Baby back ribs are a good buy at Sam's Club, when you consider what they want for a brisket, so we just do them at home.
Yep, ribs and chicken and an occasional Fajita have pretty well replaced Brisket at my house. I saw a raw brisket at HEB yesterday that weighed about 18 pounds going for a little over $80. I don't know what was so special about it to cost that because once I saw the price I broke and ran.

never go to them
Some of the best I ever had is not from a chain, but a side of the road stand or guy with a pit/smoker pulled by his pickup truck. Never know though until you try one, it could be good or not very good.

Bis, do yourself a favor and try Rudy's, If it's anything like the one here, you'll be glad you did. Be sure to try the sausage links, too.

As for trailer BBQ if you've ever gone up Hiway 59 from Houston to Texarkana you have seen a lot, and they sell more than BBQ. You can buy Mayhaw Jelly by the gallon. That"s right through the heart of the East Texas Piney Woods. This is Soul Bro-Red Neck Alley.
You'll see a pipe line going back there that says Daylight on it. :rotflmao::rotflmao::rotflmao:

The best BBQ, bar none, however, is Cooper's in Llano TX.

Cooper's is good, no doubt about it. It's certainly among the best I've tried.
