Rather, are you going to have him do a European mount?

If you are going to do it that way......do this.

Cut straight from the back of the skull (top of the spine juncture) and through the eye sockets. Exiting through the end of the sinus cavity. This flat bottom will allow it to sit flat on a shelf, coffee table, or mount on a plaque.

Nope, hot meat that has been seasoned for a day and the boiled in oil and popped in your mouth

It just doesn't get any better than that. Tell the lad he did an excellent job. I know more than a few adults that would be very envious of him. And as for the fondue, I've been known to boil meat in oil. No different than frying turkeys and if that isn't manly I give up!!! Sounds good to me, when do we eat?

    It's easy to do.
Time, which I have none of.

Next one, the horn removal is in the hands of the butcher, they wanted the horns on to hang it with while they trimmed and skinned.

We missed out on a pheasant hunt in Aberdeen when we drew the tag, they did pretty good too, 4 hunters and 36 birds since Friday last I checked with them. I will take the sixpointer any day though, thanks.

My dad says we have to wait until the second weekend, gotta have pasties one night and homemade ravioili the other on opening weekend, can't screw up tradition.

Man! That sounds good! You guys know how to eat. Home made ravioli manna from heaven! To me it doesn't even resemble that crap in the can. Do you make it from venison?

Ravioli gets bought at the Italian bakery, homemade by them, no venison, usually cheese or spinach.

Yes he did, I was hoping the off hand shot was going to be good and he hit the deer 2X.

There's nothing like that first deer, especially when you're a kid. Congratulations to both of you.

My only question is who is prouder? You or your son?
    Jerry

I wish I could have taken his picture after the deer tipped over and he turned to look at me!

That's close enough to home made for me. I haven't really had it home made, seeing that I'm not Italian. I actually was referring to being made more or less from scratch so to speak and not canned ala Chef Boyardi. I used to eat it at a place called Patrizis in Beaumont Tx, an old family owned Italian Restaurant. A lot of Italians in Beaumont referred to Patrizis food as being like home made. It was so good. And I loved the Spinach one.

Anyway, sounds like a great tradition.

Too late, deer has been at the butcher since Saturday afternoon and was next in line next to an 8 pointer that was about done. Next one we will give it a go.

Its better than getting them yourself. Congrats to you and your son.

That's cool! Give him a big high five from me.

Anything for son #1? Or is Gunny going for the regular season?

The best offhand shot I've ever met is JerryBobCo. If I ever meet your son, there may be a paradigm shift.

Regular season, Gunny was too old, had to be 15-12 yo. Gunny did get his first one last year with the ML loads, I am pretty sure I sent that to you.

It was not a long shot, but, buck fever, borrowed gun, significant recoil, off hand, it was pretty cool to see him hit it.

    You look like Mike Rowe.

Nice hunt. I ain't got childrens, but when I do I hope I'm physically capable of taking them hunting.
