Lone shooter at a Planned Parenthood clinic. Ten wounded, three dead, including one police officer. Shooter surrendered and in custody.

    I am hoping that this troubled fool has not handed the Obama crew an opportunity to create the perfect narrative for another big gun control push. With the ATF heading up the investigation, and the delay in releasing information, it is worrisome. At the very least, it will give him the opportunity to change the subject from Islamic terrorism to domestic terrorism, which fits their favored political narrative.

    Love how the news is saying, no motive or information on his "ideology" has been made public. Pray tell, what's the "ideology" behind terror? They aren't interested in that.

    Now they are saying he lived in CO, but has some SC connection. Still wonder what made him do his dastardly deeds yesterday.

    The shootings last month were about a mile south of my house. This one, about a mile and a half northwest. I shop at that King Soopers regularly. You'd not be able to tell that this is one of the nicer parts of town.

    Prayers out for the victims.

    Colorado seems to have a lot of mass shootins for some reason. Why? Anyone care to speculate?

    Just another senseless killing by a twisted nut-case. But you can bet, it's the gun's fault. I expect all the leftist loons in congress will be on this like stink on a monkey. No info about the shooter's skin color yet, precious little information from LE.

    Unlike James Holmes, barring a change of venue, this dude will be tried for capital murder in Colorado Springs. I doubt he'll receive the same mercy Holmes got.

    As to the lack of "official" information, I noticed that too during last months incident. CSPD seems to be very tight-lipped about pretty much everything.

    Well the supposed booking photo of Dear is out. If anyone looking like him walked in a Planned Parenthood Clinic I'd be nervous. He is 57 and white ...

    Jug Ears is saying it is confirmed a military style rifle was used and "enough is enough". Get ready for another run on the attempt to ban/limit/register/etc "assault weapons".

    He's 59 years old and white. Photo on the morning news. No other details yet. Other than "long rifle" no info about weapons on the local news that I've heard.

    Is he a bad shot or not trying to kill some of his victims? I mean as tragic as it is, it could have been a lot worse. He being able to keep from being shot dead or captured earlier in the ongoing ordeal by police brings up a lot of questions to me. He seemed to have the ability to avoid being shot, move around and take cover of some kind.....................

    He finally surrendered. Hope CO gives him the death penalty. I guess they will try and put together his sick motives for carrying out his rampage.

    Somebody on Fox News said the murder clinic had a "safe room" and bulletproof vests. I wonder why they didn't have an "arms room" and people qualified to use them?

    Level IV is heavy, I wore it with ceramic inserts in Iraq a few times. About 35 pounds. Still not 100% after the first hit, if the bullet hits the plates. Rated to stop a 30-06 AP.

    Better served to have some weaponry in their safe rooms and train some employees to use it. And not to turn this into an abortion discussion, but even though a lot of medical folks work in PP and other admin types, if they have no qualms about the services they provide, then it shouldn't bother them to shoot an attacker.

    I am not an anti-abortion zealot and will leave it there.

    BTW: we don't know what his motivations were and even if Planned Parenthood was his primary target because of what it does or just happened to be open yesterday. Maybe somebody who worked there????

    Time will tell, but I'm thinking shotgun.

    A local report I read quoted someone as saying that the first victim that managed to escape to the King Soopers lifted up his shirt and revealed "several" holes in his chest.

    I'm not thinking "high powered" rifle here.

    But, it's still early yet, and as previously mentioned, CSPD doesn't provide much detail.

    They are saying on the news CO has a death penalty, but it has been used (carried out) only once recently and that was back 1997.

    Couldn't say that is any consideration for the why a lot of things like this happen in Colorado.

    Beats me. After the Columbine shootings, the "in" wear at the public schools here was long black trench-coats. Never have figured that one out.
