What did Santa Bring You? 2015 Version

Uncle FesterUncle Fester Posts: 1,644 Senior Member
- 20 rounds of Leverevolution 30-30 to go with the Model 94 I bought earlier in the month. Now, Santa is busy looking at Sling options so that she is ready for next year's deer season.
- Vortex Diamondback HP 2-8 x 32 scope. Santa dictated that I couldn't put it on the Model 94.

For guns, I got nothing. But then I already have so much gun stuff to begin with-- I got yet another pile of unopened Midway boxes in the Cave that need to be sorted through and a pile of rifles that still need to be built. Guns that have yet to be shot. I need to get my butt moving!

I got 4 boxes of .30-30 to go with the Winchester 94 I got just a week ago, 2 Winchester white box and 2 Remington core lokt. Going shooting today to try out the 94 for the first time, looking forward to it.

Money. Money that will probably help fund a hunting build.

Are you going to mount a sling on your Model 94? I am looking for a way to do it without drilling into the wood and open to ideas. (Part of the fun IMHO of owning an old style rifle is looking for solutions)

Good deal Uncle Fester! I've started rolling my own. I use the Hornady Flex Tip 160 grains and 32-33 grains of BLC2 powder. It's a good solid load although I haven't killed anything but paper with it yet. But whatever, it's the same bullet, either store bought or roll your own.

I've heard some didn't like the performance of the Flex Tips so I'm still treading on new ground. If I ever experience an evident failure on their part I will no doubt default to my old stand by 150 grain Core Lokt. But so far the jury's out. However, you know the bottom line, bullet placement rules.

The front sling swivel can be something like this:

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/Uncle-Mikes-Marlin-357-Magnum-1894C-Carbine-1-Swivels-Metal-Black-1051-2-New/301478698407?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D34881%26meid%3D3264bdbf4757491daf61136ae1ad9647%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D4%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D251872957453

For the rear, you'll need to fabricate a thin metal plate to sandwich between the buttplate and the stock with a small loop for the rear swivel to attach to.

As for Christmas Joy all I got was a tee shirt from my most recent Ex. She came over with her "soon to b" on Christmas morning to watch the kids open their presents.
I didn't want anything or I didn't give anything. I'm happy with that. But to those of you who did, more power to you, and enjoy it.

My highlight moment of Christmas has become going to Christmas Eve Mass and enjoying the comrade ship with my fellow church parishioners there after. We always have a good time toghether. Besides very few could give me a gun present I would really appreciate. I know best what I want in that department and I take care of those needs throughout the year. I've been restocking on bullets here lately.

But having said all that, I want to say or say again, Merry belated Christmas and Happy New Year to all of you.

Some unexpected cash from a family member turned into two crossbreed-style IWB holsters, one for the P-64 and another for a 1911. I'm thinking about upgrading the firepower a bit for the road trips I seem to be taking more frequently to places like Memphis, Birmingham, etc.

Dropping the knife might help in that endeavor.

The knifes pretty. Toes, not so much. Maybe you didn't read the rules. We have an anti-toe-in-pic policy. Brought forth by some toes that well, we're pretty darn scary. :tooth:

Negative. You're upset someone's feet other than your own are in a picture.

No I don't plan to put a sling on it, but if I were I would go the route Teach suggested. BTW, my rifle shoots excellent, tight groups, lovin' it.
