I bought a LC9s in August. Haven't had time to shoot it much. It 's ok. It's the only gun that size I've shot so I have nothing to compare it to. Recoil is brisk with +p ammo.
Have an older LC9....carry it most every day in a DeSantis Nemesis holster in my right hip pocket.
For back pocket carry carpenter jeans are a must.
If I'm wearing jeans that the pockets are to small I do have a Bianchi professional 100 iwb that works ok but if I'm going to put something on my belt I might as well go with something larger.
Mine is DAO with an extremely long trigger pull but will shoot small groups at 10 yards if I take my time.
Pie plate sized if I hurry.
I maybe have 400-500 rounds through it (mostly WWB) with zero malfunctions.
All in all I think a person could do much worse for more money.
I rate the original LC-9 as inferior to the S&W Shield, and the Shield as inferior to the XDs or Glock 43. You get what you pay for, in other words, when buying popular subcompact pistols. I have shot all of these a good bit, except for the Glock 43, and have had the LC-9 and Shield completely disassembled for trigger work. Having said that, most LC-9 owners seem to like them OK, probably because they aren't really trying to shoot them as accurately as they should be capable of.
My shootin' buddy had an XD which he loved. He sold it and got a Shield, which he likes better. I shot the XD and it's quite accurate but I like a thinner pistol and wasn't crazy about the grip safety. The XD had a better trigger, but not that much better. I've got a Shield and a G 43, both of which are excellent pistols. I've only held the LC 9, but it seems like a fine pistol.
Concealed carry is for protection, open carry is for attention.
Actually, the XDs and the Shield are so close to the same width that it doesn't matter - the shape of each one makes it seem that the Shield is smaller in some of its dimensions, but it isn't. And the trigger release point is further forward on the XDs, making it a lot better for folks with large hands or long fingers - probably not so much for average sized hands.
Better hold off, it's black and semi-auto. They will probably confiscate it next month!

Exactly the same for me, I pocket carry mine quite often, don't even know it is there half the time. Mine has the crimson laser grips. While the trigger pull is long, it is easy to get a hankering for and as Gator quoted I have had ZERO malfunctions as well. I am a big fan of having a manual safety on my carry gun, as I grew up shooting a 1911, the safety is quite natural for me, I find it is really a great carry pistol.

That's basically full retail. Shop around online and you may get cheaper
Looks good, OK trigger and hits what she aims at. Has not had a single problem.
