.45acp/45LC Redhawk & Clips

Just as Larry posted, S&W moonclips will not work. They hang up on a point of the recoil shield and the cylinder will not close.
I tried 2, 3, and 6 shot moonclips.

I only tried snapcaps in the Ruger moonclip and the good news is that I did not need a tool to extract the snapcaps from the clip.

Not going to be able to shoot any real ammo until probably next week.

Probly have to be careful with the clips so they don't get bent.
My thoughts are generally clear. My typing, not so much.

Yes, they have a slot cut in the material that grips the cartridge between cartridges.
The Ruger store was closed today or I would have ordered more.

Young fella at the LGS said I did not need the clips because of the way they cut it.

I really like his Dad so I let it slide.

I shot the revolver with clips and only .45 acp, contrary to all the hype I've seen on the web about problems shooting it with Ruger clips, it shot ok.

I had a major sight adjustment to make, but, par for the course.

The grip is small, like shooting a big speed six.

    Recoil was really light.

The clips want to hang up on the extractor when removing a spent load in a clip, something I never noticed using S&W style clips.

No tool needed for sure to load or remove cases from the clip.

    Opinion:
I need to shoot it more and consider the need for a Man Sized grip instead of a cpj sized one.

I wonder if it would have more machismo if you called it the 7.92x30R?

On the off chance that Ruger is reading this thread, please make this .45C round butt with a 5" barrel - - preferably a TAPERED CONTOUR 5" barrel.

If it happens to also shoot .45ACP, I won't mind. I won't be foaming-at-the-mouth excited by that option, but I won't mind it.

I think a 5" barrel would be better, too.
