Bump, so I can find this when my RIA comes in. Plus I'm sure there are a couple more 1911s around somewhere.

Useless 1911 trivia: The pistol that Lynette Squeaky Fromme used in her attempt of President Ford's life was a 1911..not an A1, but the old 1911. There wasn't a round in the chamber or she may have been successful. She served 34 years and is now living somewhere in NY state.

    There they are!

Dan Wesson is just about the best buy for the buck for a 1911 these days. My Razorback 10mm cost me less than my TRP and is better built with better parts by far.

Huh. A condom advert in the middle of porn. Keeping it responsible, good on you. :D

Picked up my new RIA 22TCM/9mm 1911 today, took it home, field stripped, cleaned, and oiled it. As I was checking it out upon reassembly, the left side of the ambi safety began to move independent of the right, instigating a full (or close to it) tear down. Didn't feel like making yet another trip to the basement to retrieve the right screwdriver to remove the mag latch and trigger. Got a right-hand only, low thumb safety, as well as an arched MSH and stainless flathead grip screws ordered, now, considering a solid trigger to add to the classic vibe. The rail will still stick out as modern, though.

signal must be weak, not wanting to upload the photo. I'll try again later.
I was afraid of that, running out of room, had to simplify. I had an Imgur account, my phone and that site don't get along well.

In SGTM configuration. While I replenish the gun fund and spring for the real elephant ivory I picked up a set of polished checkered buffalo bone to do a "proof of concept". Not bad right? The original grips are safely tucked away, they are real Colt first gen grips in pristine condition.

Nope :tooth: Bad picture, I can not express how freaking beautiful this gun is when it's up close and personal...

REALLY interesting gun, turns out it might NOT be a re-blue. More about that later, I need to do more research.

That one's just plain and simple beautiful.

Considering how much nicer that gun is than any issue gun, I'd go for pearl grips. You can tell Patton, he's just jealous of your gun's flawless finish.

Also those fossilized walrus ivory grips cost more than my first car. Though I'm sure they'd hold their value better, too.

    Late to the party.

edit, Kimber custom. Only embellishment is the Houge wraparound. Got it on a whim, didnt like it on the AO, but it suits the Kimber.
Auto Ord left and right. Left one is mine, about 30 years old, it has some bluing wear and is more than GI accurate. I actually wore out parts on it. Right is the wifes which she carried for a bit and shoots real well. Both of them wear grips I made from one of the first cherry trees I cut on this property.
It's boring, and your lack of creativity knows no bounds.

Can someone think of a better word, an adjective, besides "porn" to describe a gun we like?

    Thanks
Get the 'power' or optic that your eye likes!
When we go to the eye doctor they ask us what lens we like! They have us look through lens's and find what we see best with! Do that with your shooting optics.

The "porn" is posting pictures that the rest of us, well, lust after. It's not a adjective describing the gun itself.
Aim higher, or get a bigger gun.

    Probably not.
