Someone here once said you only have to be 10% smarter than the equipment. I guess if your lizard brain default gets you into problems, a SERPA might not be for you. I admit I don't own one, and all my holsters with a retention device are thumbsnap, but that's more due to how things have worked out, not willful choice.
Anything constructive to be said ?
Or is it all downhill from here ?

Or when the gun is empty oh can swing it about as a flail
sorry I missed this yesterday....
One does not use a Smith and Wesson revolver or a fine 1911 as a flail. While they are robustly built and could definitely cause damage, one doesn't want tissue and brain matter from some miscreant on your firearm. It might discolor the finish!
Glocks, XDs, other polymer pistols (even HKs) and Filipino 1911s are the preferred flail-worthy weapons.

Just another reason why they are so practical as SD weapons. Who wants to worry about damaging a prissy revolver when somebody is about to carve your heart out. :jester:
Another reason Glocks are lousy as HD weapons. Plastic means less weight, and no nice sharp edges when you need to get medieval. You would just flail around ineffectively.
It's boring, and your lack of creativity knows no bounds.
Dunno, I saw the end results of a guy that got hit in the head with a Glock 19, lots of blood, depressed skull fracture, TBI etc.... he tried wrestling a Police Officer for her gun and she bashed him in the head several times.

Not ineffectively, but less effectively. Kinda like driving a nail with an 8 oz. hammer vs. a 28 oz. framing hammer. You'll get it done, you'll just wear yourself out with the lighter weight piece of gear.
Tell that to the guy lying in a pool of his own blood unconscious with his skull crushed in, I was there at the scene....

The Serpa is just another tool, depending on how well you use your tool... ( low soft pitch... ) IT might be good for you and it might not.
I have one for my G20 and G22 / G19. It's a great hunting rig, for me. I have yet to pull it out in such a fervor that I caught my finger on the trigger. When I un-holster it, I do so slowly and smoothly and well planned. I re-holster the same way.
I am not going out daily into harms way with one. I like my thumb break holsters for my revolvers, as well.
Rule number one. Keep that finger off the trigger unless you are ready to fire.

Before the ever popular Interenet forums, it was the Range / gunstore / surplus goods, somewhat like this forum, except in person, lots of good information, sometimes not, lots of opportunity to try out equipment and other stuff and see if it worked or not.
I found out a lot of stuff through trial and error.

If I ever start my own gun or tactical gear company, I may call it S.A.D. : Stupidity Avoidance Designs.
Edit: Maybe M.A.D - Moron Avoidance Designs
Or possibly I.E.D. - Idiocy Evasive Designs
R.P.G. - ****-Proof Gear. "Designed for some other guy. OF COURSE we didn't design it for YOU." Might be a slight problem soliciting beta-testers. . .

Stay in your lane. Otherwise, wrecks happen.
