i looked online and there was only 1 room available...non-smoking.
i wanted to get a room for a couple of days...oh well.
Call the hotel directly at the number at the beginning of this thread. I just reserved a smoking room with 2 beds. More often than not, they keep a certain number of rooms off the national website just because it costs the local franchisee a commission to national for customers booking online. Patel told me he had to pay Super 8 $6 for every night reserved online. Call them and I will see you there.

Also, the only way to get our group discount is to make the call to the local facility. Ask for the "Southeast Shoot" rate.

Nope, no coffee maker in rooms, I called. So I have a plug in tea kettle I'll bring and a box of Folgers coffee single bags and I'm all set.

Dang, I forgot to ask about other "Amenities" Microwave............? Toilet... probably, no-bed bugs........hopefully :jester:

They spent several months "remodeling" about a year ago before reopening under the Motel 6 brand. Hopefully things will still be pretty fresh!

I'm still looking for a "round tuit" to get those road directions posted!

Get off on 106...go past the big chicken and the strip club...stay on the winding road for a few miles...go past the BBQ place...turn right at that spot where the weeping willow used to be...stay on that road for a bit...hang a right after the big field part...hang another right on the little trail that looks like you might get murdered by a headless horseman on...go 'round a couple curves and over a few hills and Jerry's is down a bit on the right.

Actually, the first time I went to Jerry's, I punched his street address into my Garmin GPS and surprisingly, it took me right to his driveway.

The big chicken got a facelift after Buffy humped its leg, and the strip club went out of business- - - -ran out of fugly girls, I think- - - -but I do have a new set of directions available if you don't have a GPS to follow. Just PM me your email for either a set of directions or a street address!

First time cpj put Jerry's place in a GPS, he ended up in a cornfield! :uhm:

    Really, Mr Athens?
I was waiting for a comment on that point, since he was the only guy that went to Jerry's farm in a state other than Tn.

Wasn't a cornfield. It was Amish country. Gps led me to Jerrys, it just sent me on the scenic route. Besides, it was the gps on a blackberry. Lucky it found Tennessee

Never use 'shortest route'......... It will take you down some wagon trails.

My GPS system is an older unit, in my part of the country I can make it show no roads at all. Poor thing is sitting on the dash saying " man? Where are we going? What are you going to do to me?"

We were going to a high school football game close to the PA state line. Had our Garmin in shortest route and it literally took us on a tractor path between two fields. Then it went down a hill and the middle of the road was washed out. Luckily there was room to turn around or I would have had to back up 1/2 a mile........

Brought an older model GPS to visit the wifes family in Pennsylvania. Worked fine until we got out into the "country" towns outside Gettysburg. Screen turned black and purple and only directions it gave was continue North. Luckily she is from there as I had no clue which way to go

The GPS probably needed a firmware and maps update.

Okay, since the kids cooperated by not scheduling either of the grandkid's B'day parties that weekend we're "in". Motel 6 is "full" so we're staying at the Quality Inn in Athens ALABAMA (Enzo :rotflmao: ) Still not 100% sure of ETA, wife's waiting to hear if her half-day off has been approved or not. So we'll either be there in time for the buffet dinner, or not :uhm:
It costs a little more ($89 for a king smoking room) and is a little further away, but is an option if anyone else still needs a room
    Here's their number (256) 232-0030
and address 1488 Thrasher Blvd, Athens, AL 35611

Plus if any first timers stay there, you can follow me up Sat morning.

I'll be right across I-65, at the Best Western.

Apparently, we have filled up the Motel 6 at Exit 14! Other options would be the motels in Athens (about 25 miles south) or the "America's Best" at exit 6. Some folks have had a less than memorable experience there, however. The exotic dance club next door is closed down, so maybe the motel will have to improve its service a little now.

The motel up the road the other way, at least did not have bed bugs and MCD's was real close for breakfast.

    Oh yeah and no cpj!

So what is near the one (Motel 6) most of us are staying in?

8 miles, either north or south. Exit #6 has the Big Chicken (Buffy's favorite) and America's Best motel. Exit 22 has an Econo-Lodge (I think) where several folks had problems getting the rate I negotiated last year. Fayetteville, Pulaski, and Athens (ALABAMA) are the next closest options.

Wow, we never maxed out the Motel 6 before. This could be a record year for the SE shoot.
