In the case of hogs, yes bigger is probably better, especially for your first hunt. There's a lot of hogs killed with a .223, but it can be iffy and requires more exact shot placement in a more or less immediately fatal spot. The .308 won't kill them any deader, but it will kill them easier. With a 150 or 165 grain bullet it's quite deadly.
That's exactly what my uncle said. I just read his text again and it said a .308 will kill right now. A .223 will kill just as good.

A .223 will kill them just as dead, but a .308 will do it more often.
That's close enough because most hogs are pretty big targets, LOL!!!
