Just found out...pulmonary asperation (sp). Still in hospital, procedure tomorrow. At least I/they now know. Still not out of the woods 'tho.
Thanks all. Updates when available.
Went back into hospital last night. It has been 3 weeks to the day now that this carp started, and it gets a little better, then worse. Is looking like a rotten March. Looks like a road trip coming up...when he's out of hospital. He has expressly prohibited hospital visits for over 15 years...that is the stubourness that will hopefully get him thru.
Knowledge is essential to living freely and fully; understanding gives knowledge purpose and strength; wisdom is combining the two and applying them appropriately in words and actions.
Just got word that the IV has been removed...been in hospital now for over a week...might be able to be released Thursday or Friday. If it sucks for us, it has to really suck for him...the man can not tolerate sitting still.
I want to visit, but he's not accepting visitors. Always been that way, so have to respect his wishes.
Oh, and getting the run around about what the ailment actually is.
Sent pictures of kids' Blue and Gold to him as a pick me up.
Texts, e-mails and pictures are being relayed. Feels cold and unpersonal, but it's all that is available...if he'd accept visitors, we'd be there. When he gets home, we'll be heading down...even if it's just to poke our heads in and say hi (he hates company when he's not in top form...always has).

Heading down for another visit this week. My brothers tell me of the progress he's made until I say I'm coming down. Hoping for a good outcome. He is a strong man, would overtake me in a heartbeat in usual circumstances...I don't want to see him as incompacitaded this time. Heck, he still takes his boat out every weekend, with his crew of buds (I used to be one 'til I moved away), so I'm hoping for a positive report...probably later in the week will have an update.
All your thoughts and prayers are and were appreciated...if you can, send out one more. Thanks.
It appears that he is doing as well as I have been told...at least from this photo from last week. In addition to the tuna, they had 7 white marlin releases...told you he was a tough guy...LOL!
Right to left...my brother (10 years older than me), my dad in the blue trunks, 187 pound tuna, oldest brother (11 years older than me), our infamous cappy in the blue tank with his wife, and a former pit crew member and good all around egg. Tomorrow is looking better.
Just got back. He's 100% better than the last time I saw him. Lost a lot of weight, still on a feeding tube, but he is mobile and his spirits are better. He does not fight the fish, but is on each trip. He's hoping to one day actually eat real food.
Been a while, but an update....rather, a re-hash. We usually go down to see him at Christmas and spend a day or two...this year, it is a day trip, at his dr.s request. Still on feeding tube, 90% blind (or so) and test driving cars for the visually impaired (none are tripping his trigger, so to speak). Voice sounds like gravel on the phone, brother says he's lost more weight...heck when all you get is Ensure dumped down a tube, how do you not????
Afraid it may be our last Christmas with him. Don't get me wrong, he's a stubborn Irishman who insists on remaining in his home and being taken to the office and board meetings, but the results of the experiments are not panning out.

Again, sorry to be a downer. Just looking forward to at least one more visit...hopefully I am wrong and it will be many more.
