Ya'll be careful at the Shoot-Out
A 32-year-old Walton County man didn’t break any laws Saturday when he shot his lawn mower filled with an explosive, but he did lose his leg below the knee, the sheriff’s office said.
About 3:50 p.m., David Presley of Monroe shot an old lawn mower loaded with three pounds of Tannerite, according to the Walton County Sheriff’s Office. The lawn mower exploded.
Two of Presley’s friends had helped him to a vehicle and had driven him to the bottom of the driveway in the 2200 block of Emmett Doster Road by the time deputies arrived. He was picked up from there and flown to Grady Memorial Hospital. He was missing his left leg.
It was not clear why Presley shot a lawn mower filled with an explosive.
Tannerite is the brand name of a binary explosive marketed primarily for making exploding targets for firearms practice, Walton County Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Craig League told the Loganville Local News. The mixture combines ammonium nitrate and aluminum powder. These powders are not flammable and are generally stable, when subjected to a lesser force than a high-velocity bullet, League said.
Though League called the use of Tannerite dangerous for amateur use, he said serious injuries resulting from its use are relatively rare.
Deputies receive two to five calls a week related to the explosive.
“If you hear a loud boom and it shakes your home, your windows, and the china in your cabinets rattle around, then there is a good chance one of your neighbors is shooting Tannerite,” League said.

That's why we have a minimum 100 yard range for Tannerite shots, and no metal or glass containers, please! Darwin doesn't need any help cleaning up the gene pool!

It never is.
A friend had some last summer. We shot it with my 30-06 from a distance. It was impressively powerful, completely uprooting large sage bushes. I believe the product contains explicit warnings and instructions on it's safe and proper use.
Did somebody say it would remove tree stumps? I have three such as that. Only problem I'm in the City Limits. And besides it might be a little embarrassing if I put one through the neighbor's roof,
:silly:....:nono:....:yikes:....:fan:
Son that's somebody with nothing to do with his time but keep me in trouble with mom.

2" x 2" x 1/2" , tape one to the back of a
B-10 thug target, one shot with a
Ruger MK III, and you would vaporize the entire target !
I used to tell people I was testing some new defensive
.22 LR ammo, they would be dumbfounded after seeing the entire B-10 target vaporize from one .22 LR round,
then I would reveal the truth.
you don't think any of our guys are that stupid do you:popcorn:
NO! I enjoy browsing this forum from time to time and would not want the "cast of characters" here to suffer.:jester:

Yeah expect a ATF ruling soon. This stuff is going the way of the Sig forearm brace in the very near future. I hate it when idiots get a hold of something. They always ruin it for everyone else. I would also expect a lawsuit in the near future. Torte does not seem to demand legitimacy for a suit to proceed.

Yep - the Socialist-Liberal Nanny State (tm) will outlaw it soon. They should just let Darwinism work - the guy wasn't happy with his first couple of shots, so he walked CLOSER and tried it again!

But, the interesting one is being out on the creek when the EOD range goes active, you get an eerie split sec of silence then the boom and some over shock;
reminiscent of the bomb dump going up at DaNang.
Too soon?
