Patty Duke, the teen who won an Oscar for The Miracle Worker and later played "identical cousins" in her own TV sitcom, has died. She was 69.

The news was confirmed Tuesday by one of her representatives, Mitchell Stubbs.

"Anna 'Patty Duke' Pearce passed away this morning March 29, 2016 at 1:20 am," his statement read. "Her cause of death was sepsis from a ruptured intestine. She was a wife, a mother, a grandmother, a friend, a mental health advocate and a cultural icon. She will be missed."

Duke died at a hospital in Coeur D'Alene, Idaho, where she had lived for the last 25 years with fourth husband Michael Pearce.

The Parent Trap movie I remember starred Haley Mills. Is there another one out there?

It was Haley Mills, I always get those two confused. I don't know why either.

Maybe because she played identical twins on the Patty Duke Show, which reminded me of the Parent Trap, same actress playing both........I dunno. Heck maybe that is where the idy came from for the sitcom from the Haley Mills movie.

    Parent Trap 1961

Patty Duke Show started in 1963

So you see there is logic in my thunking, after all...........

Sad that in today's age of modern medicine, to die from a treatable medical condition,

Heather O'Rourke (poltergeist) also died of intestinal complications.

I was too young to have seen the Patty Duke Show when it originally aired, but I do remember it airing on Nick at Nite when I was growing up. I also met Patty's son, Sean Astin, on the set of a movie that I was an extra in many years ago. He was incredibly nice to a young kid who just so happened to be the first on set at some ungodly early hour, and not only made pleasant conversation, but signed an autograph for my kid sister. Clearly, Patty raised a fine young man despite her public psychological battle with manic depression. May she RIP.

She was one of my favorite actresses growing up.

Knowledge is essential to living freely and fully; understanding gives knowledge purpose and strength; wisdom is combining the two and applying them appropriately in words and actions.

Patty Duke not Daisy Duke (Catherine Bach) from Dukes of Hazard.

Patty Duke turned a disability into an asset helping others by being an outstanding advocate on mental health issues.
    RIP Dear Lady....
