Whatcha gonna bring to the SE Shoot to Shoot?

Big ChiefBig Chief Senior MemberPosts: 32,995 Senior Member
I think this deserves a thread of its own.

So not done with my list and will entertain any request others may have on what to bring they may want to see and shoot.

Ruger 556 (pick it up in a couple days when it gets here)

Ruger American bolt .22

How about Yugo SKS 59/66 ?

S&W model 28 Hwy Partrolman

.22 handgun? S&W 63 or Colt Official Police?

Plenty of ammo for them and any other caliber(s) requested that I have.

And you?

Hey, how is that 10/22 takedown? I think they are pretty cool. Any issues, pros and cons?

Got a few smokepoles, including an original Pattern 53 Enfield in shooting condition. Anybody want to fire a 500-grain .577 caliber Minie' bullet or three?

If I can swing the money and I'm not employed at the time, I'll bring some of my boring ol' bolt guns in various chamberings, such as the 9.3x62 that MHS enabled me into, the .257 Bob AI, the 8x57 Yugo Sporter, and the .250 Savage. Oh and yes, I can't forget my Trademark .27-06,

If I could make it I'd love to shoot that 9.3x62mm.

I will be bringing a variety of .22 ammo along and you are welcome to try the different brands in your 10/22.

All different kinds... got a small bulk box of Cyclones, Sure-Shot and a few others you don't see much anymore. heck, even a couple boxes of Wildcats.........partial box of Yellow Jackets maybe some Lightening someplace............

Man even part of a box of Rem Vipers found a half full box of, says Hyper Velocity 36 grain 1410 fps muzzle Truncated Conical Solid bullet............159 ft pounds energy at muzzle/[email protected] 100 yds..........wow these are fun to look at and all the hype they use to try and outsell the competition.

Sticker on box says $1.60 must be 20 years old and that was a lot fer a 50 round box of .22s back then, pic of a snake on the box made them more deadly :rotflmao::rotflmao:

Anyway, I'll bring an assortment of .22 ammo. Sad thing is lately if you find a brand your guns like, you may not see it again for a long time, if ever for some of it.

I think CCI Std/NormaUSA/Fed Auto-match baby bricks and the bulk Fed/Win/Rem will be with us for a long time at some price in the future.

Over the years, I've brought a lot of different guns that I thought would stir some interest and I was wrong. I even brought my M-14 one year with quite a bit of ammo and it was untouched. I'll bring a few rimfires and a few levers, and call it good. I used to bring a lot of revolvers but so does everyone else so there's nothing unique about them. Now that I think about it, I'll probably bring my birdshead .45colt vaquero also.

I'll probably bring clay/shells/shotguns again for folks to blast. I will also bring out the .284 Win XP-100 specialty pistol and my 10mm Colt.
Accuracy: because white space between bullet holes drives me insane.

Just bring that chipmunk. The one I don't want.

You're in luck, I finally restocked my ammo supply for it. I had gotten the trigger down to where I like it and mounted a bipod, and was down to half a box of ammo. A couple of weeks ago, over dinner, a friend casually mentions that he has around 20 boxes of .22mag and he doesn't even have a gun for it anymore.

It took me a second to understand this. For a moment, I thought you had a rifle requiring proper break-in.

What ammo does it like best?

The CCI that I had and the Remington that I had both grouped 1.5" to the same poa at 100yds but that was from standing at the bench and shooting from a bag. I've got a bipod on it now and a taller stool for my bench. (some soil washed away from around my bench) I bought 11 boxes of PMC from my friend but haven't had a chance to try it yet.

So I need to bring a .44 spl for you to shoot????

If so, maybe my 4" 624 instead of the 6 1/2" one?

    Or a .44 mag? 3" or 6 1/2" ?

I think I had the Belly Gun 3" last time with the longer bbl .44 spl, can't remember.
