Huntin elk again!

Draw results have been posted, got my *MUZZLELOADER* bull tag! That's 3 years in a row drawing a bull, hopefully it's a repeat of last year and i can call in a walking coat rack into short range.

Six-gun drew his bull as well and will be joining me. Chiro's #1 son drew but not #2 and himself, hopefully there are some leftover tags available.

My other hunting partner got his bull and buck (archery, but the seasons run together)

Unfortunately no antelope tag, i put in for a brand new unit, but didn't draw with 2 points, ill be curious to see how many points that one took.

Congrats, so what are you building on that ultra light action if your doing all your high mountain hunting with black powder?

Muzzled bull? I wasn't aware that they bit people.

Ha! Well his job might be open soon he's been hinting at running with Shillary for VP

To answer the original question, another deer rifle. That'll round me out with 2 antelope, 2 mountain deer/CXP2, and 2 elk rifles. Oh and a DG rifles, cause, why not? That is why I was asking about the 7x57 a few weeks ago. It's current chambering is....not important. Although it IS pretty ugly, maybe having an ugly caliber will work lol (it is one of the old boat paddle Rugers)

Hopefully it won't be muzzled, it is really much easier to find them when they speak freely

PETA would probably spew even more than their usual tripe if you didn't give the elk a chance to bite back, but I tend to think that fencing bobs on the antler tips would be a better method. . .

This should be a great time. If nothing else, it will be great to learn the unit and see what works best for an approach out there. I have never looked for elk that far north in CO, so this is going to be a whole new game.

What GMU are you hunting? For quite a few years we hunted GMU 4 Elkhead Mts. N of Craig, camped at freeman Reservoir, always did good on deer and elk.

You lucky pup. The results for Wyoming's draw aren't out yet, but I'm sure I'll get skunked yet another year. I'll just get general tags again. I did get a cow moose tag last year, so I can't complain...but I probably will anyway. Congrats again on your luck in the draw!

Congrats to both you, Luis and Chiro's son.

I got a refund check today for deer. Since I didn't have any preference points, it's what I expected.

As MHS pointed out, it will be 561 for us. It's a small unit, but MHS knows it and I trust he'll be a big help in finding the critters.

I just got my deer refund check yesterday. When do they send the antelope refunds out again? is it July? I stashed another point, so I am due another check.

It's been so long since I applied for a goat tag, I don't know.

Same here, got my deer refund yesterday, waiting on my antelope. Deer was just pref points so I knew I was getting that. I was really hoping for that goat tag, these goats have not been hunted before. Maybe next year! Might try to find some left over doe tags around some SWA's or something, I just want to hunt goats, it has been a few years since I have been out for them

No problem, Jerry. I forgot that you stopped putting yourself in for goats.

MHS - I hear ya. I have been lucky in that I got to hunt antelope in Nevada and Montana in sequence for back-to-back years. I have enough points where Colorado should happen for the SE units the next time I put in, and I also have doe antelope points accrued in Nevada and Montana. Nevada should happen the next time I put in, but Montana doe-only tags take surprisingly long to draw (about 5 - 6 years) in the unit where I would want to hunt them. I'm just short of halfway there for that hunt.

Now, now, snake: note that I took extreme care to use the word "for" before the word "goats." That was a deliberate move, as without the "for," it does indeed become a Buffy joke.

So, there are not leftovers in 561, 56, or 551, but, if there are tags that get returned for whatever reason it sounds like they will get distributed, the DOW is not sure if they will go back to the lottery or first come first serve at this point, so I am not sure what I am doing yet, I am guessing a camp cook/beer guard would be appreciated;)

If guarding beer is my business, then business is good:up: If you have no tags, then you, Paul , and Linefinder need to do a road trip, JB's FIL needs to have a night out too.

Gunnar get's a full time guide! Sucks the tags didn't work out, but at least you are building points. Next trip out with a tag should mean a bull tag!!! If I get my bull this year I'm done with antlers for a while.

My local buddy hunting with the buck and bull tag, will have his brother along to help him out, so priority on my part goes to getting Gun and Six their animals first, mine by chance.

Hey, you are on a roll, and sixgun has a lucky horse shoe up his rear when he is hunting, so I am not ruling a trip by any means
