"Pre-Ban" AR Pricing/Questions

In the people's Republic, a modern AR is verboten. But, it is legal to buy a "pre-ban" rifle. Unfortunately, the pricing in this state is simply obscene for old, often shitty looking AR's.

1) In states that don't have dumb gun laws, do they sell at a premium?
2) If I wanted to get one, are there models/features to look for/avoid?

Although I am still researching how the loophole works, I think it is legal to build a more modern AR as long as the lower is pre-ban.

Thanks. I am visiting the Republic of Texas in a few weeks and might go shopping.

Here in Florida, they're not worth a penny more than a modern one.

I only have 1 pre-ban, and it's a Colt Sporter. The Colt name can bring a premium for someone enamored of Colt rifles, but the pre-bans aren't worth any more here. Actually a little less due to the non threaded muzzle. Tacticool folk want to hang a whiz-bang tactical flash hider out there, and the front sight needs the bayonet mount on the bottom. IDK why, and don't ask. I'm afraid I'd laugh and have to do a sprint to get away, and I'm too old for that crap.

Not with a honorable LGS. Local one sells 'em at a premium. Preys on the suckers, I guess....

Around here old Colts demand a healthy premium on the racks of LGS's, but they seem to just sit there.
