Checkin' In
Hey y'all! I've been a little MIA lately, figured I'd drop in and drop a line. Got the last cycle graduated, got some leave, wife did too. We figure we're gonna ride out to Texas and visit some family we've got out that way. I should try and be more active here haha!
Pain is okay. Puking is okay. Fear is okay. Falling is okay. Crawling is okay. Failure is okay. Quitting is not.

I know I'm sorry! I get kinda anti-social the last few weeks of the cycle hahaha. I'm terrible about it!
We did, actually! Couple of .44 black powder six shots, a Henry repeating rifle, a flintlock musket, an 1800s gattling gun (that thing was awesome!), and last and possibly my favorite an American Revolutionary War era mortar. That was pretty awesome. Her cousin is a reenactor, and historian, so he had access to these weapons. I definitely want a Henry repeating rifle. (I should note that all of these weapons are replicas)
The musket was... Interesting, to say the least. I'll admit, I was definitely a bit overcocky and didn't take into account the lack of rifling on the musket. My first shot was high and wide. Second wide and low. Third, high. Fourth I hit it just shy of the center. It was definitely a bit frustrating to me not to be able to even hit the paper target! And yes, I'm at least 90% sure the 4th one was a fluke... I did come to a bit of a realization: firstly thank God for the inventor of rifling! Secondly, I never missed an M16 so much during that moment of frustration at not being able to hit a paper target. Thirdly, no dang on wonder they had massive lines of soldiers fighting each other...
We got a bit of a history lesson, which was definitely interesting.
Her grandmother sent us a blanket for the baby that she apparently made herself, which was incredibly nice of her. We had no idea that she had even made the blanket. All in all though, we had a great visit. Can't lie though... I'm ready to get back to work!
