Went to the range with my grandson today.

We shot the .257 AI with AI fireformed cases, we shot the .223 Model 200 Stevens and my grandson shot his 22 I gave him for Christmas. And I also shot my 7 mag for the first time (For me that is). The 7 Mag kicked a lot since it is pretty light. I had a load of 150 grain Nosler BT over 62 grains H4831SC in Remington brass and Winchester Large Rifle Primers. It kicks the bejesus out of me. The Scope doesn't have a lot of eye relief. I'm going to change the scopes from my .223 which is a Leupold VX-1 4-12x40. That scope has plenty of eye relief, and I think I can shoot it better. Also, the trigger is fantastic. I think anyone would love it.

Get a PAST recoil shield to wear at the range, they work great. In the field, recoil is never noticed.

Yes and I will probably do both. But one thing is the recoil on the shoulder doesn't really bother me, but it's the scope in the face thingi. It about kisses my eyebrow every shot. I try to back off away from the scope to the point that the scope is not full of sight pic, but rather black edge and it still almost kisses me. Hehehe. I know it was affecting my group size yesterday because I was anticipating the thing chopping on my head. The Nikon Buckmaster 6-18x40 doesn't have the best of eye relief, so I'm going to perform a scope swap today and put the VX-1 4-12x40 Leupold on the 7mag and the Nikon on the .223. That's what i bought it for anyway and I only swapped it because I thought maybe the 3 inch groups might have been due to the scope. The scope was brand new and you just never know for sure about anything new. However, I'm happy to say that it wasn't the scope. I have since shot some of my best groups on the other rifle I put it on, the 22-250.But the 4-12x 40 Leo has about an extra inch of eye relief over the Buckmaster. This may sound confusing, but I have two of these Buckmaster scopes, one on the 22-250 and one on the 7mag.

wambli, do they make these pads for specific rifles now, or is it still one size fits all and you have to do a lot of grinding on the pad?

They sure do, Mike. $37.99 at Midway for one to fit on your 110 w/ wood stock. WELL worth it.

I've bought a few of the "ready fit" models....they never fit right. Call up your smith and get a price for a good grind to fit pad, well worth it in my opinion. I finally did this and you'd swear the pad was factory it fits so clean.

I think I'll get the one at Midway and try it. If it doesn't fit, my gun smith can make it fit. I've done that myself, it's really no biggy if you have a good grinder and tape up the stock where it won't get scratched up. Then use some alcohol to take the tape glue off the stock when you're done. But if it will fit from the get go, what the hell!
