Shot A Rock Island 10mm Today!

A buddy had a RIA 10mm 1911 at the range today. I should have taken a photo. The flat MSH was checkered beautifully as was the front strap (to the point where it hurt to shoot it!
Adjustable sights. Full length recoil spring.
Shooting 180 grain Sig 10mm ammo, it was freaking awesome. It was like shooting a target pistol. Accuracy was great. I shot at a 1.5 inch wide stick at 50 yards standing and hit it 3 times in 7 rounds! It would have been an easy pistol to use for deer or pig at that range.
At 10 yards it was silly. You couldn't make two holes! The bullets just kept going into the previous hole!
I've never wanted a 10mm...until now. Crap!
Oh...and the Tristar T-100 is settling down to be a target pistol too. I did a ton of dry fire and the propensity to pull to the right is gone. It was boring! 30 rounds into a 2" hole at 10 yards standing. I didn't set up a target farther as the range was busy and a cold wind was starting to blow. Winter's coming back.
RIA imports good guns.

It's a source of great pride for me, that when my name is googled, one finds book titles and not mug shots. Daniel C. Chamberlain

I've owned a S&W 1006 (which I regret selling to this day), a Witness (which I don't regret selling), and now my Dan Wesson Razorback and my Glock G40. It's like the .357 of pistols; whether you like softer .40S&W-level loads, or the blazing stuff from Underwood or Buffalo Bore, you can pick your poison off the shelf. If you load your own, it's even better!
Now if I happen across a S&W 610, I might be in trouble...

The 10mm is a terrific pistol round, even in my G20. I was able to hit paper plates easily at over 50 yards, the first time I tried it. I don't think I have ever fired a round through it at less than 25 yards. The very first round I ever fired through it hit the staple in the center of the bulls eye at 25 yards and knocked the target down. Of course, I haven't been able to do it, again, but I was able to keep everything within 2-3 inches, and I'm a pretty average 'marksman.'
The good news is...I have willpower.
Repeat after me,,,,, I want a Smith 610, I want a Smith 610,,,,,
