Being found "in contempt of cop" after defensive shooting

http://abc7.com/news/fiance-arrested-after-shooting-at-womans-attempted-abductors/1829685/?utm_source=fark&utm_medium=website&utm_content=link&ICID=ref_fark
This reads like a dirtbag was the shouter, and was uncooperative post shooting.. And was arrested for it. The reasoning the cops gave for arresting the shooter would be grounds for arresting almost every officer in the NYPD that has fired a gun lately

I don't know about the gang affliction or such but on the surface the guy did what I (and I think most here) would have done. If he were a gang member I almost would even give him a break on defending his fiancée at his home ... he wasn't out doing a drive-by.

And if he's not?
Is being a member of a club a crime? What if you don't call it a club? What if you call it an organization?

For any reason you care to give me.
If he's not, then don't throw away the key.

Well, I understand you want to put him away for any reason, but that isn't exactly how blind justice is supposed to work.
IF the dude fired indiscriminately about the neighborhood, there could be charges, I suppose... but that doesn't exactly stroke me as a 'throw away the key' offense.
I won't defend the man's past actions, because I have no idea what they were. They have no bearing in this investigation, save for possibly trying to determine the motive of the would be kidnappers.

If you want to blindfold me when I throw away the key, I'm fine with that.
"Contempt of cop" is law enforcement jargon in the United States for behavior by people towards law enforcement officers that the officers perceive as disrespectful or insufficiently deferential to their authority. It is a play on the phrase contempt of court, and not an actual offense.
Generally speaking, when you exercise your rights during police encounters, the cops get pissy when you fail to acquiesce to their every demand.
