    This is a rare one...a xanthrochromatic hairy woodpecker....also called a "yellow morph"

    Dang! Very nice capture! Nothing like having a rare visitor and looking it up in the Petersons Guide. Once I get back to Idaho I plan on getting a few feeders out as well. Those suet feeders work great.

    Btw, that yellow bird, is that a crossbill of some type?

    Oh yeah! Duh! Should've noticed with the nyjer feeder. I have lot's of Lesser and American Goldfinches during early spring as well.

    You know? When I was younger it was "N iger"...and all of a sudden the seed and country are both "Nyger"...
    What the hell is that about?....
