Active shooter, base is locked down. Not much other info. They are saying it may be at the sparkman center which is where the army middle command is.

Last week they arrested a Muslim with bomb making materials in town. Probably no ties but...

I worked in the Sparkman Complex. I hope it is nothing and another false alarm. Once a lady dropped a Compact in the Von Braun building and they evacuated it thinking it was a chemical agent because folks panicked.

After being on Fort Hood, for that awful day I pray this is nothing but a false alarm. They have good security there on RSA and will take care of what needs to be taken care of.

Has Trump addressed the issue of military personnel being permitted to carry their duty weapon on duty?

I know there's a lot of stuff going on now but this issue should be brought out while we have the man in office that will take care of it. An armed military force would about eliminate such crap.

It is (the building complex) is humongous over 600,000 sq ft, take a while to clear it. Here is some live coverage from the local yokel news ch. 25, well at the gates anyhow.

Yeah, Chief started a thread on this. Maybe this will bring the issue of disarmed military personnel on duty to the forefront and maybe Trump will get that changed. If everyone there was armed you would probably not ever hear of crap like this again. And if you did, you would know the shooter was insane to go trying to shoot up an armed military instillation.

There is 40,000 people on that installation including NASA and the Marshall Space Flight Center. The vast majority are civilians who are not allowed to bring weapons on base for the most part.

It's kind of sounding like a false alarm, like Simone reported sighting someone with a gun. Hospital reports no injuries coming in. Parinoia?

It's all the same problem, whether you restrict the military or the civilian his right to be armed. If you are a licensed hand gun carrier or a military trained carrier, they shouldn't restrict your rights and privileges. If a place is possibly full of armed people, the scumbags won't go there. They want an easy shot. And with restrictive gun laws they have an easy shot.

Now ch 25 is saying it is a situation in building #5301 in Sparkman Center, I had a cubicle on the 2nd floor there when I worked there.

Sure sucks for the folks who work there. It could be anything, domestic or disgruntled employee or, of course terrorism is what first comes to everyone's mind. Just have to wait and see.

back in 62 we has our rifles in racks in the squad bay, not locked up and the ammo was down the hall in the ammo locker, we could be armed and loaded in minutes.

but that was the "old corps", no idea what they do now.

All clear except sparkman center. They still have not said what happened but base is open.

Sooooo...in regards to that whole " Run, Hide, Fight" thing....Sure would be nice if they had something to fight with....perhaps it's time to have a mandatory training session in " Fighting with improvised weapons when all that running and hiding doesn't work out for you"

I just got an email from a friend who works at the Sparkman Center. Only one building is involved, and he's being sent home for the day. One base gate is on lockdown, and it seems the situation, whatever it is, is contained, if not resolved.

It's a military installation and they can clamp down on most incidents tighter than Richard's Hat Band until they are ready to speak. Redstone Arsenal is unique because it is mostly civilians, but they have done a good job so far keeping the lid on.

Funny we can get more info as crap is happening or just happened in Paris and London..........................

Of all places for someone to do something, that has got to be one of the worst. There are two SWAT teams on base, FBI and ATF offices bunches of EOD guys and over 60 other organisations that know how to do bad things to bad people.
