What's up with Photobucket and "3rd Party Hosting"

Never had any issues before and I get an email today saying I need to upgrade my account because of 3rd Party Hosting.............and all my pics on here are gone until I do.

It's only true if it's on this forum where opinions are facts and facts are opinions

The second I get home to my high speed line, I will be pulling all my photos and be rid of Photobucket for good. Even before this, it was like pulling teeth trying to get a photo to upload without a major effort. Sure, hosting billions of photos takes lots of data (money) but there has to be better ways of doing it than they do.

Some folks were guessing Photobucket has been hacked.........like many businesses lately, but it seems they have decided to without any warning cut folks off for a "Ransom" of $399 a year. Some small businesses and folks have been using them for over a decade and then this which shut down all their pics........................bad business practice.

Folks were saying their Avatars have also disappeared on some social media sites too.

I find this akin to the guy who jacked up those medical injection pens folks depend on by 1000% without warning leaving folks high and dry.

I know it cost money to host the pics there, but come on...............

I'll find another site fer sure.

Posting a link works, but it allows all your pics to be viewed even if set to private, or did when I tried it even after signing out of PB and clicking on it from here. Maybe different for others clicking on it????

I've been using Hunt101.com for years without any issues. Just stay off "Cupidfish" the dating site they host! Lots of eyestrain on that one!

So what are the alternatives guys? Either free or even a small monthly fee would be OK with me long as it works on here which is all I'd use it for and just storing pics.

I get they want people to pay, and every consumer has a choice, that's just business. However now I have a real bone to pick with them. They show I am using 2.2 Gb of space, so I downloaded my library and uncompressed it. It is 350 MB. Let that sink in.... They are charging for space, but not reporting it correctly, they are showing a file is over 6x its actual size. That's a lawsuit, in my opinion, for mis-representation.

I'm trying to down load my Bucket. Where is it going to go? It doesn't give you a choice of destination and without that it doesn't go anywhere.
